Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA-The group of SMP Labschool Unesa 2 Surabaya who was involved in a series of accidents in Tabanan, Bali on Saturday (18/06/2022) arrived in Surabaya early this morning, Monday (20/06/2022). For the group, the school prepared a trauma healing team from the UNESA Crisis Center Mitigation Unit (SMCC).
The school also expressed deep condolences for the abandonment of one road user in the incident.
Widya Nusantara, Deputy for Academic Affairs of the Unesa Labschool Management Agency said that trauma healing will be carried out tomorrow Tuesday. The team plans to carry out a physical examination and psychological assistance which includes psychological first aid, individual-group counseling, hypnotherapy and psychotherapy.
"Of course it will be adjusted to the conditions of students and teachers and based on the identification of the SMCC team. So far they are fine. But the name of the accident, of course there is a kind of trauma. That's why we formed a team to handle post-event trauma," he said.
Widya said that the group of SMP Labschool Unesa 2 Surabaya left for Bali in the context of a study tour. They departed from Surabaya on Friday via the northern route using three vehicles. Two tour buses and one Hiace. In total there were 88 people who participated in the group. The details are 62 seventh and eighth grade students, 25 teachers and 1 teacher's family.
The group headed to a number of places, including the Penglipuran Traditional Village and Bedugul Lake. The students and teachers had arrived at the inn and had time to visit one destination. The group plans to continue their visit to another place. In the middle of the trip, at Km 48.9 Jalan Denpasar-Singaraja, a tourism bus had a series of accidents that caused several students to be injured by broken glass.
The bus that crashed was carrying 42 students and four teachers. The number is 46 people. All safe. “One pedestrian died as a result of this incident. On behalf of the institution, we offer our condolences and we hope that the families of the victims will be given strength and fortitude," he said.
Widya added, after the incident, the school coordinated with the group there and with the local police. Several students who were injured immediately received treatment from the local medical team. After the incident, the scheduled visit was canceled and the students and teachers immediately returned to Surabaya.
"Besides trauma healing. The team also opened a complaint service for parents or students regarding the condition of each student. This is at the same time to ensure that their condition is okay after this accident. The school and the team will continue to assist," he said. [UNESA PR]
