Agenda QS Higher Ed. Summit: Asia Pacific 2024 which took place in Macau SAR, China is an opportunity for UNESA to promote the institution while expanding international networks.
Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA—Surabaya State University (Unesa) continues to show its commitment to achieving the title of World Class University by participating as a sponsor and exhibitor at QS Higher Ed. Summit: Asia Pacific 2024 which will take place in Macau SAR, China from 5 to 7 November 2024.
This activity is an opportunity for the 'Home of Champions' campus to expand international cooperation. The Chancellor of UNESA, Nurhasan or Cak Hasan said that UNESA must spread its wings at the world level, as part of efforts to strengthen internationalization towards a World Class University.
"This participation is not only for promoting the campus on the international stage, but is also a strategic step to build a global network," said the UNESA sports science professor.
One of the significant results of this participation is the establishment of cooperation with two leading universities in Kazakhstan, namely Karaganda Buketov University and Satbayev University.
After intensive discussions, the two universities agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) as the first step in building strategic collaboration in a number of fields.
At this activity, the Chancellor of Karaganda Buketov University, Nurlan Dulatbekov also invited Cak Hasan to be part of the editorial board of one of his university journals which focuses on sports, physical education and healthy lifestyle.
The collaboration with two campuses in Kazakhstan is intended to strengthen the tridharma of higher education, which is of course beneficial for UNESA lecturers and students.
Vice Chancellor for Research, Innovation , Rankings, Scientific Publications and Science Center UNESA Bambang Sigit Widodo, assessed that this collaboration opportunity could strengthen the implementation of the tridharma of higher education at UNESA, especially regarding joint research and international mobility of students and lecturers.
"This offer is an extraordinary opportunity that we must immediately realize," said the lecturer whose home base is at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (Fisipol).
Meanwhile, the Director of Cooperation, Information Technology, and UNESA Data Center, Slamet Setiawan confirmed that this MoU would be followed up immediately. This collaboration is one that the 'Growing with Character' campus will prioritize.
Meanwhile, the Director of Innovation, Rankings and Scientific Publications, Nadi Suprapto, emphasized that this collaboration is an important step to improve UNESA's reputation at the global level and contribute to the improvement of university rankings.
With this strategic step, UNESA continues to prove its seriousness in realizing its vision as a superior higher education institution in the international arena.
“Collaboration with Karaganda Buketov University and Satbayev University is expected to pave the way for "various other collaborations which further strengthen Unesa's position in the global world," explained the professor at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA).[*]
