Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA–As a joint effort to improve the quality of the younger generation, through education. State University of Surabaya (UNESA) together with eight other universities signed a scholarship agreement with Bank Indonesia (BI) on Friday, March 25, 2022 at the Vasa Hotel Surabaya.
This event was attended by the Chancellor and the Vice Chancellors from each university; UNESA, ITS, Unair, UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya, Trunojoyo University, IAIN Madura, UPN Veterans East Java, Surabaya State Electronics Polytechnic and Sunan Giri Nahdlatul Ulama University.
In his remarks, Budi Hanoto, Head of Bank Indonesia Representative for East Java Province, said that this program is BI's social program for Indonesia's superior generation. This scholarship targets students who excel, but who are also lacking in economic terms which are expected to be a support for them to continue to excel in the future.
This year, around 660 students from 9 state universities have signed the BI scholarship agreement. This scholarship covers tuition fees, living allowances and trainings to improve the skills of students.

"We hope that through this scholarship program we can produce future leaders who have integrity, are creative and are not tired of learning," he hoped. In addition to the MoU, on that occasion there was also the inauguration of the East Java Genbi (New Generation of Indonesia).
UNESA Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Nurhasan, M.Kes., appreciated BI's steps in providing assistance in the form of scholarships for the Indonesian generation who actually have potential and are superior, but are not economically capable. He also fully supports this collaboration. "Of course, this is a golden opportunity for students to continue to learn and explore potential, innovate and excel," he said.
