The leadership of the UNESA Vocational Faculty welcomed three representatives of Rajamangala University of Technology Krungthep (RMUTK), Thailand. Both parties discussed the cooperation program which will be followed up immediately in the future.
Unesa. ac.id, SURABAYA—Surabaya State University (UNESA) through the Faculty of Vocational Studies is strengthening collaboration with Rajamangala University of Technology Krungthep (RMUTK), Thailand. Three representatives from RMUTK were present in person at the One Step Ahead Campus on 25-26 July 2024 at the Vocational Faculty, Campus 1 Ketintang.
Strengthening cooperation is related to the implementation of student exchange and internship programs. Abdul Hafidz, Deputy Dean for Division 2 of the UNESA Vocational Faculty, said that this activity started with the D-4 Transportation Study Program which previously conducted collaborative research with RMUTK Thailand.
“Then a long time ago, now it was followed up again by them visiting us, namely from Thailand to Indonesia. RMUTK is a higher education institution under the kingdom of Thailand. "They have advantages in the fields of technology and vocational education," he said.
Currently, the cooperation agreement between the two parties focuses on programs for students. However, in the future programs will be developed for lecturers such as lecturer exchanges.
The internship and student exchange cooperation programs have been stated in the MoU agreed upon by both parties. It is planned that the internship will be held in September 2024. Then, the plan is to exchange students in 2025 from Thailand to Indonesia.
Supported by UNESA leadership, the leadership and lecturers of the Vocational Faculty are committed to realizing this collaboration, one of which is related to the internship program and student exchange.
The Dean and The leadership of the Vocational Faculty and the Coordinators of the 10 Study Programs in the Vocational Faculty fully support this activity. Also, the leadership of UNESA. “We will support this positive activity. This activity facilitates students who wish to study in Thailand because Thailand is famous for its culture and strong local wisdom. "The Vocational Faculty is a pilot project and will later expand to other faculties," said the Chancellor of UNESA, Nurhasan or Cak Hasan.
Currently, a registration flyer for internship participants to Thailand in September has been created. And registration for students who wish to take part in an internship at RMUTK is still ongoing, until the limited quota is met.
“Students who are interested can register directly by contacting their respective study program coordinators. This is specifically for students from the 10 study programs in the Faculty of Vocational Studies only, this is not possible for other faculties. Students who take part in this activity will receive a conversion of 10 credits. "This activity lasts for a month, there apart from studying at lectures, you then get to know the work environment accompanied by an instructor," said Abdul Hafidz.
International cooperation or collaboration has a huge impact on the internationalization of UNESA. So that all faculties at UNESA are competing to collaborate with foreign universities.
“In the future, the Vocational Faculty will not only collaborate with universities from Thailand but more broadly. Because seeing UNESA's achievements in winning IKU collaboration achievements. "So I am sure that in the future there will be more collaboration with a high commitment to the internationalization of higher education, in addition to providing international classes in each study program in each faculty," he said.
