Unesa.ac.id, Surabaya-The ambassador of behavior change of Universitas Negeri Surabaya participated in a virtual training organized by the Behavioral Change Task Force handling Covid-19 on Saturday (2/13/2021). The event was attended by Dr. Sonny Harry B Harmadi, Head of Behavioral Change (PP) Task Force handling Covid-19 and his team, rector of Unesa along with the vice rectors, deans, and lecturers and thousands of Unesa ambassadors.
The event is routinely held during the pandemic and already has around 80,000 more behavioral change ambassadors throughout Indonesia. For Unesa, the training was the second with the highest student engagement rate in Indonesia, which is 7,000 more students. While in the first stage, Unesa involves about 700 students with excellent performance results; enter one of two campuses that successfully educate the community massively and fantastically.
Rector Prof. Dr. Nurhasan, M.Kes. in his speech said that in order to help the government fight the spread of Covid-19, Unesa will provide and do the best for the government and society. He continued that dealing with pandemics is indeed a challenging job and requires collaboration.
In addition, it is also necessary to pay attention to many factors, one of which is the discipline behavior of undergoing prokes and a clean and healthy lifestyle (PHBS). Therefore, it is necessary to educate and socialize, and be patient because there are still many who are abai and selfish. "When advising or educating, we must be patient and ethical" said the man called Cak Hasan.
Unesa appreciates the Covid-19 Task Force's Code of Behavior Change program. Hopefully, Unesa continues to provide the best for the people of Indonesia. Rector believes that Unesa ambassadors can be an example, and able to provide the best education for the community in the application of 3M (wearing masks, keeping distance, and washing hands), 3T (tests, search, and follow-up) and vaccines.
"My great children, be role models wherever they are. Don't let your guard down with 3M, do enough rest, don't impose wills, culture thinking and behaving positively, exercise regularly for physical and spiritual fitness," he said. "We are optimistic, we can give our best to change people's behavior, and we can be free from the shackles of pandemics," he concluded.
Dr. Sonny Harry B Harmadi, Head of Behavior Change Task Force handling Covid-19 expressed his gratitude and pride to Unesa who has contributed wholeheartedly. Of the more than 80 thousand ambassadors of behavior change in Indonesia, nine percent are Unesa students. "This is amazing, we will give a special charter to Unesa as an appreciation for his contribution," he said.
He added that with the most student contributions, it can maximize the efforts of the Covid-19 Task Force to achieve the target of decreasing the Covid-19 case curve on March 2, 2021 (1 year of Covid-19 in Indonesia). “Our target, on March 2 there will be a reduction in extraordinary cases. The task is to flatten the curve or smooth the curve of Covid-19 cases. Alhamdulillah, the last few days have gone down in line with the increase in community compliance with the prokes," said Dr. Sonny.
He is optimistic that the target can be achieved, one of which is through the role of the Ambassadors of Behavior Change. The ambassador's job is to educate the public to obey 3M, explain about vaccines, also support the implementation of 3T in the community.
According to him, the front defense against pandemics is 3M, the next layer is 3T, and the last layer is vaccines. The combination of three aspects can save Indonesia from Covid-19. "There are two campuses that have successfully educated the community in large numbers in the previous stage, one of them is Unesa," said Dr. Sonny. "Good luck fighting as a hero of humanity, a tough greeting, and freedom," he said. (Zam / Public Relations Unesa)
