Unesa.ac.id, Surabaya-The Independent Student Exchange Program is a new program launched by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology. Registration for this program has been opened from June 14-27 2021. To make the program a success and provide information to students, the State University of Surabaya held an online “Socialization of the Permata Merdeka Program 2021” on Thursday (17/06).
The socialization event was attended by Prof. Dr. Bambang Yulianto, M.Pd as Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Dr. Muhamad Sholeh, M.Pd Head of the Independent Learning Unit at the Unesa Merdeka Campus, lecturers and students around Unesa. The speakers on that occasion were Tsuroyya, S.S., M.A., as Head of the Division of Student Exchange and Research Internships and Rusly Hidayah, S.Si., M.Pd., as Secretary of the Division of Student Exchange and Research Internships.
In his speech, Prof. Dr. Bambang Yulianto, M.Pd., said that basically the Indonesian Student Exchange Program, which is currently labeled Merdeka, is a transformation from the previous pattern of student exchange programs. Therefore, Bambang gave a message regarding the fundamental problem related to the conversion of course recognition. “All the efforts of students who take part in this program are appreciated by being relevant to what is in their respective universities. Therefore, it is entirely the study program's obligation to convert student courses to the curriculum structure," he said.
Tsuroyya, S.S., M.A., as the first resource person to convey the requirements and benefits that students get when participating in the independent student exchange program. According to him, through this program, students not only gain academic experience, but also non-academicly in universities outside their domicile islands. "Getting official recognition for 20 credits courses, getting intensive support during the program, making new friends from all over the country, and so on," he explained.
Furthermore, he explained several requirements that must be met by students to join this program. (1) Non-vocational undergraduate students, active in semesters 3, 5, and 7 from PTN and PTS throughout the country. (2) Have a minimum GPA of 2.75 or have experience of non-academic achievements at regional, national or international levels (proven by valid documents). (3) Having the ability and opportunity to develop reasoning, insight, as well as integrity, creativity and innovation. (4) Never been subject to academic and non-academic sanctions at the sending university. (5) Willing to comply with all written provisions in the POB book (Baku Operational Guidelines) for the Independent Student Exchange Program. (6) Obtain a recommendation from the original PT and parent/guardian permission.
Rusly Hidayah, S.Si., M.Pd, explained how to register for this program and how to create an account. “Friends who are interested in joining this program, please access the MBKM website: Kampusmerdeka.kemdikbud.go.id, then click enter, if you don't have an account yet, click register and fill in your personal data correctly. If there is email content, it is recommended to use Unesa's email. Then activate the email. When you have finished registering your account, you can click on the student exchange program to register for the program. (ESTI)
