Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA - The State University of Surabaya (UNESA) held an online socialization of the 2022 Student Exchange program on Monday, February 7, 2022. The program is a joint program initiated by several universities that are members of the independent student exchange consortium.
The socialization event was attended by Prof. Dr. Bambang Yulianto, M.Pd. as Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Dr. Muhammad Sholeh, M.Pd. The Head of the MBKM Unit, Tsurroya, S.S., MA as the Head of the Student Exchange and Research Internship Division and the head of the UNESA study program.
In addition, there were also presenters consisting of Arief Budiman, S.E, MMktg., Ph.D., from Lambung Mangkurat University, and Dr.rer.nat. Erwin Riyanto Ardli, MSc., from UNESA. The socialization targeted UNESA students.
Tsuroyya, S.S., MA said that the Independent Student Exchange program is a joint program initiated by several campuses that are members of the independent student exchange.
"With this, we hope that students will be able to attend studies on time or within 4 years and not be charged at the end of the study period related to this student exchange program and so that the student's study period does not increase which will affect the accreditation of each study program or department," he said.
Program Benefits
Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Bambang Yulianto, M.Pd., explained that the MBKM Unit has three divisions. First, the KKN Division adopted 8 activities and 5 of them were included in the KKN theme. UNESA KKN is thematic, including village projects, independent projects and others.
Second, the Division of Student Exchange and Research Internships, which is currently ongoing socialization of independent student exchanges. Third, the Field Practice Division which manages educational field practices also handles non-educational work practices. The three divisions also have equal workloads, due to the dynamics of activities and the wide regional reach of students.
The UNESA Linguistics expert also said that this activity could expand student networking with outsiders. If normal conditions are in accordance with the intended destination, it can provide positive values and the value of new experiences. However, during this pandemic, it also gives a different nuance. "At least we can take advantage of the learning experience with Unesa lecturers as well as the interaction between Unesa students and foreign students," he said.
Campus and Student Engagement
Arief Budiman, S.E, MMktg., Ph.D conveyed things in the form of details related to the implementation of this independent student exchange program, namely PERMATA Merdeka Mandiri, API and Consortium. According to Arief's statistics, this program was attended by 35 state universities with 12,571 students enrolled and provided 1,874 courses. This program has the Permata Merdeka Portal route at ULM, the Consortium route and the U2U PRODI route.
"Students who participate in this program will benefit from networking and certificates," he explained.
Some Program Terms
Meanwhile, Dr.rer.nat. Erwin Riyanto Ardli, MSc., conveyed about the consortium in this student exchange program. In the consortium, it is intended that each university that is part of the consortium will exchange students within the same scientific scope and not out of the scientific realm.
Furthermore, he explained several requirements that the university had to meet to join this program. 1) PIC account registration. 2) Setting the consortium coordinator. 3) Matching partners. 4) Course registration. (5) class registration. (6) Student registration. (7) Filling KRS. “For students who register, namely 1) Account registration. 2) Account activation. 3) Fill out KRS by consulting the Head of Study Program or DPA. 4) Submission to the university coordinator. 5) Class registration,” he explained.
