Unesa.ac.id, Surabaya–There are many ways that can be done to improve the quality of human resources and the quality of education in Indonesia. One of them can be through optimizing the Teacher Professional Education (PPG) program as carried out by the State University of Surabaya (UNESA). To support these efforts, UNESA held a coordination meeting on the implementation of PPG in the first phase of 2021 on 11-12 June 2021 at the Arcadia Hotel, Surabaya.
The event was attended by around 95 participants, 46 of whom were civil servants. This event was attended by Prof. Dr. Bambang Yulianto, M.Pd Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Dr. Mochamad Nursalim, M.Si as the Dean of FIP, Prof. Dr. Madlazim, M.Si Dean of FMIPA, and Dr. Bachtiar Syaiful Bachri, M.Pd as the head of LP3 Unesa. In addition, Drs. Fatkhur Rahman Kafrawi, M.Pd as the Head of PPG Unesa, members of SPI and their staff.
Fatkhur Rahman admitted that this year around 50% of the participants were filled by civil servant teachers. They come from various areas such as Surabaya, Bojonegoro, Jombang, and Pasuruan. In this meeting, there are many things that will be discussed, such as verification of data regarding lecturers' teaching schedules, evaluation of comprehensive tests, evaluation of PPL cycle one and many others.
The PPG head admitted that the purpose of holding the event was as an effort to increase the graduation percentage of the participants, as well as an effort to improve Unesa's image. "If PPG graduates can be higher, it means that the service can also be said to be good," he said. "Hopefully there will be synchronization between civil servant teachers, lecturers, and leaders," he hoped.
In his speech, Bachtiar Syaiful Bachri said that PPG is the last goal to maintain the dignity of teachers after S-1 education or S-1 fields of study who will enter the world of education. "This activity exists as an effort to maximize and optimize PPG to improve the quality of human resources and education," he said.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Chancellor for Academic Affairs UNESA in his speech conveyed the concept of hybrid or limited face-to-face learning which would be scenarios for 25 percent of the students attending. The lecture scheme is planned to be implemented in the next semester. Furthermore, the 25 percent is limited to one week at a maximum of only two meetings, in the two meetings the duration is only two hours each.
He also suggested several other limited face-to-face learning variations that could be used as alternatives in implementing hybrid learning both in regular lecture programs and for PPG. "I believe PPG can do the best, because it has been managed for a long time and the people who manage it are also experienced people, especially the supervising teachers, the results can certainly be good," he hoped.
