Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA - Shelvia Kusumadewi is good at giving speeches. He proved his ability in various competitions. The latest, German Language Education Department student, FBS won first place in the German Speech Contest or the 2021 National Vortag and third place in the National Vortag Competition which was held by UNESA and Medan State University (Unimed) in October and last December.
At UNESA, the woman who is usually called Shelvia competed with dozens of participants from various Indonesian campuses. On that occasion, he appeared with a speech entitled Freedom of Expression in the Era of the Pandemic. Because of his interesting demeanor and good choice of words and topic determination, the 2018 student managed to come out as champion.
Then at Unimed, Shelvia appeared confidently. This time, he delivered a speech about Nusantara Tourism. "At that time I discussed 3 of the several points of the global code of tourism ethics and then related them to the state of tourism and culture in Indonesia," he said.
In addition to her achievements in giving speeches, Shelvia is also a recipient of a Language Course Scholarship by the Goethe Institute (B2). According to him, every competition and championship he won is part of the learning process to provide benefits to the people around him. By giving a speech, Shelvia can convey feelings or convey certain messages regarding various conditions that occur in the surrounding environment.
"We can convey many things to other people as well as learn how to convey them properly and correctly," said the woman who loves basketball and the ukulele. “Currently I continue to study German speech, because in my opinion, learning will never end. I realized that I was not competing with others, but competing with myself. How can I be better and better than I was yesterday," he said. (UNESA PR)
