Unesa.ac.id, Surabaya- The activity of Mount Semeru that emits clouds makes Lumajang Regency is being in emergency status now. Some points location are also still being monitored for the impact of semeru eruption. In this situation, for the response effort, Unesa moved quickly in sending aid as one form of implementation of The Tri Dharma of Perguruan Tinggi, which is called realizing the community service program on Sunday (6/12) in Pendopo Arya Wiraraja.
"We realize solidarity and the value of humanity is very important in this life. We are valued as human beings, because we are able to show solidarity and the value of humanity. Those are the reason and the purpose for us to be here" said Vice Rector for Student affairs and Alumni, Dr. Agus Hariyanto, M.Kes in his speech.
In this occasion, Unesa gives various groceries, such as 1,100 kg of rice, 80 kg of sugar, 150 liters of cooking oil, 150 cans of sardines, 11 boxes of instant noodles, 40 liters of disinfectant and 200 masks..
There was also attended by lecturers and employees of Unesa and welcomed directly by the Regent of Magetan, Thoriqul Haq, Regional Secretary of Lumajang, Agus Triyono, Lumajang Regional Leadership Forum, Head of SKPD Lumajang and all of the staff and alumni of Unesa. Bupati Lumajang in his speech also expressed his appreciation to Unesa.
"Unesa became the first and only campus to provide assistance directly in Lumajang. We would like to thank Unesa for this," Thoriq said.
Furthermore, after the event Unesa followed up this community service program by establishing cooperation on the application of free learning by sending students to participate in Community Service in Lumajang Regency.
"Hopefully, it will help and support can strengthen the solidarity in Lumajang and hopefully this disaster will pass quickly" concluded Agus. (git)
