Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA - The Surabaya State University Equestrian School (UNESA) or Pandesa Riding School held a horse racing competition titled Equestrian Pandesa Internal Competition (EPIC) 2022 on July 2-3. The competition was attended by 42 participants from various circles.
The Director of Pandesa Riding School, Bibit Sucipto said that the competition was aimed at evaluating the equestrian ability of the students of the Sport Science Study Program (IKOR) and to prepare the best students to be included in the competition for the 58th Anniversary of UNESA in August.
At the UNESA riding school itself, he continued, there are many members who come from the general public, IKOR students, and student activity units (UKM). "From UKM, students who take part in equestrian training come from students of any major at UNESA and there are students from semester 1 to semester 4," he explained.
This equestrian competition is divided into two classes, namely there is a class for children (children class) for ages 14 years and under, and there is a junior class (junior class) for ages 14-17 years. This competition is divided into two categories, namely dressage (riding in harmony) and so jumping (jumping obstacles).
The assessment aspect of this equestrian competition is taken from the highest points, where the contestant who gets the highest points wins. Values are based on movement; 1) matching ride (dressage), participants are given 1 question and answered with a horse movement; 2) jumping obstacles (so jumping), riding participants are given the command to jump over an obstacle. If you don't jump, you will be refused or penalized. Highest points based on zero penalty. If there are zero penalties and in the fastest time, participants can get a lot of points and are declared champions.
"Hopefully this competition can increase students' confidence and skills in equestrianism to advance to national and international equestrian competitions," said Bibit Sucipto.
Franklin Wibisono, chairman of the EPIC 2022 committee, said that the purpose of this equestrian competition is to train participants or athletes to get used to participating in competitions.
