Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA - The Student Association of the Department of History Education, State University of Surabaya (UNESA) held a 'Student Dialectic' activity on Saturday, March 19, 2022. The goal is to encourage students to work together in preserving and internalizing the nation's cultural values in the era of society 5.0.
Drs. Artono, M. Hum, head of the Department of History Education UNESA said that, in the era of society 5.0, students are required to be wise in responding to technological advances that develop along with the industrial revolution. According to him, this progress makes it easier for everyone to find jobs and access education without having to bother leaving the house. "In the world of education, it is not only a matter of knowledge, another thing that is equally important is the balance of character and morals," he said.
Drs. Fransiscus Xaverius Sri Sadewo, M.Si, UNESA Sociology Lecturer explained that in this era, Indonesian people tend to emphasize the nature of comparing other ethnicities and religions at one problem point (ethnocentrism) through digital media and simply breaking the prevailing norms.
This of course can have an impact on certain tensions. As in the substructure-superstructure relation, culture is actually used as a superstructure that justifies the mode of production in social life so as to form two classes of social order; the ruling class and the working or working class.
Meanwhile, according to Awang Dharmawan, S.I.Kom., M.A, a lecturer in Communication Studies at UNESA, culture experiences a very significant difference in this digital era, so that the term "transform culture" appears. There are several things that affect the culture transformation, among others; economic interests which then have an impact on the cultural progress of a country and there are political interests in it.
Then, the lifestyle of today's society consumes more information from the internet, throughout the day and even every second in a busy life. The existence of cultural hegemonization makes the culture in an area the same and almost no difference. The media seems to be a demasification tool for the spread of culture, such as European, Korean, American, Japanese and several other countries that tend to hedonism, dress styles that lead to well-known brands and brands, fast food that has many outlets such as KFC/Mc Donalds. . These cultures are becoming a current trend among young people. (UNESA PR)
