Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA-The Sociology Study Program, Faculty of Social Sciences and Law (FISH) of the State University of Surabaya (UNESA) has students who are good at playing chess. Dhea Safitri, her name is. The 2020 class student is an East Java female chess athlete and often shows her skills in various national and international competitions.
From the various championships that have been followed, the daughter of the couple Tri Wahyuhono and Sanimah has made many achievements. Dhea won 3rd place in the National Championship in Jakarta, 2018. Then she won 3rd place at the international level in Penang, Malaysia, 2018. In that competition, Dhea managed to get rid of 162 participants from 12 countries in the world and listed her name on the world's top three boards.
Last November, the woman from Bangkalan took part in the V/2021 Junior Chess National Championship organized by the Executive Board of the Indonesian Chess Association (PB PERCASI) in Bangka Belitung. Dhea came out as the first winner and defeated 280 participants from various regions in Indonesia.
Before the competition, Dhea did routine exercise 3-4 hours a day and it was fully done every week. He sharpened his playing strategies at home and at the Surabaya Chess Club Suryanaga. "I also practice with friends at the UNESA Chess UKM on Tuesday and Friday," he explained.
Dhea knows chess since childhood. At first it was just a fad, but as time went on, he became more and more fond of the sport of strategy fighting. From there, he then began to participate in chess tournaments around Indonesia. “I participated in the tournament from Makassar, Aceh, Jakarta, Bangka Belitung, and other areas. Yes, all for traveling and meeting many people. It's fun for me," he said.
In addition to the National Championship, he also often participates in inter-university tournaments, both in teams and individually, such as the Unhas Rector's Chess Cup X National Championship held by Hasanuddin University and won 2nd place.
For Dhea, chess cannot be separated from her daily life. Currently, apart from studying, Dhea regularly trains and improves her abilities as well as welcomes the East Java Porpov which is planned to be held in June-July 2022. “I always try to upgrade my abilities from day to day.
