
The atmosphere of disaster mitigation and K3 training at UNESA.
Unesa. AC ID. SURABAYA—The Directorate of Prevention and Management of Strategic Issues (PPIS) of Surabaya State University (UNESA) is committed to creating a safe and comfortable campus environment for the entire academic community through training in understanding disaster mitigation and K3 (work health and safety).
The activity involving the Surabaya City Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) took place at the Faculty of Medicine Building, UNESA Campus 2 Lidah Wetan, on Thursday and Friday, 3-4 October 2024.
Head of Surabaya City BPBD, Agus Hebi Djuniantoro appreciated UNESA for its participation in pentahelic by conducting simulations and training for handling and mitigating emergencies and disasters in the campus environment.

“BPBD "Surabaya is ready to collaborate with UNESA in carrying out outreach and mitigation," he said.
He said that disasters are not only caused by nature, but there are also social disasters that are prone to occur in the campus environment because it has many students from different backgrounds.
"Students usually experience psychological pressure due to academic demands, so assistance with a psychologist can be provided for students," he said.
The Director of PPIS, Mutimmatul Faidah, explained that this training activity was held to increase the understanding and skills of the entire K3 team in dealing with disasters.

Conforms to vision, the "One Step Ahead" campus will strive to provide security and comfort for the entire academic community. "We don't want anything undesirable to happen at UNESA," he hoped.
He hopes that the community members will be more prepared and resilient when responding to disasters and carry out mitigation in order to minimize disasters.
Apart from the material presented by BPBD, there are also practices for providing first aid to disaster victims and simulating when an earthquake occurs while indoors. This activity was attended by all K3 teams in each faculty, Dormitory Sub-directorate, UNESA Security unit, Asset Sub-directorate, and Construction PPK.[]
