Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA—Surabaya State University (UNESA) holds a beauty class activity in collaboration with a well-known beauty brand, Wardah . The event with the theme "Glassy Make Up Look" took place at the 11th Floor Auditorium of the UNESA Rectorate Building, Campus 2 Lidah Wetan, Friday, March 8 2024.
Wulan Patria Saroinsong, S.Psi., M.Pd., Ph.D., Head of UNESA International Cooperation Section, explained that this activity was based on the finding that many students did not use make-up appropriately.
The event taught techniques for using make-up correctly to beautify themselves, and is an innovative step in providing deeper knowledge to UNESA students.
"Some students tend to use make-up excessively or inappropriately so this event can provide guidance and be able to apply make-up appropriately and according to the situation," he said.
Wulan said, this activity is part of the collaboration between UNESA and Wardah which will start in 2023. This collaboration is not only limited to beauty events, but Wardah is also a sponsor for various UNESA activities last year.
With the participation of 30 UNESA students and 7 general participants, this Beauty Class not only aims to strengthen cooperation between UNESA and Wardah, but also to promote the two institutions.
Savitri Yudi from Wardah who specializes in Wardah Color Expert, provides valuable insight regarding flawless make-up. He emphasized the importance of a basic understanding of make-up for students, especially for those who have talent in make-up art or dream of becoming a Beauty Blogger or Makeup Artist.
"One of the common mistakes that is often found is basic color selection. foundation can make a person's appearance look less than right and they have to know the right color," he explained.
The correct technique for using foundation is to pat it evenly , especially in areas that are prone to cracks, such as the sides of the nose and under the eyes. He gave tips on selecting undertone colors which refer to personal color analysis.
Understanding undertone colors can be seen based on the veins which can help someone determine the right color. according to their skintone and undertone.
Savitri suggests that Indonesian skin colors are suitable for brown or orange which are also warm colors. undertones. Meanwhile, for those who have cool undertone you can use pink.
"ThisUndertone can be seen from the color of your veins. Don't "choose a color that suits your skin at that time because it can change and the basis is in the undertone," he explained.
Not only foundation, he discusses common mistakes in the use of eyeshadow. According to him, improper use can make eyeshadow look like a colored layer cake. On make-up tools, he highlighted the importance of using a blending brush to produce a natural eyeshadow look. []
