SURABAYA—In order to strengthen collaboration between Thai universities and the State University of Surabaya (UNESA), the Association of Southeast Asian Institutions of Higher Learning (ASAIHL) Thailand visited the 'Home of Champions' campus. The group was welcomed by UNESA leadership at the Rectorate Auditorium, Campus II Lidah Wetan, on Thursday, November 21 2024.
Vice Chancellor I for Education, Student and Alumni Affairs, Madlazim explained that the collaboration between UNESA and institutions in Thailand is nothing new. UNESA has established good collaborative relationships, including with Prince Songkla University, King Mongkut's University of Technology North Bangkok, Walailak University.
This collaboration includes various programs, such as student exchanges, lecturers, research, and other programs. internship.
ASAIHL Thailand's visit to UNESA is an important milestone in efforts to improve the quality of higher education and expand international cooperation networks. Through this agenda, it is hoped that we can learn from each other, share knowledge and develop innovation together.

“The agenda for this visit is expected to strengthen our collaborative relationship and can also become the seed of new collaboration. I am sure, with a spirit of collaboration, we can achieve the goals we have set. "We also hope to have the opportunity to host the ASAIHL conference in the future," he said.
UNESA Director of Technology, Information, Communication and Cooperation, Slamet Setiawan emphasized that UNESA's collaboration with ASAIHL Thailand is a moment which is good because ASAIHL Thailand is the same as the state higher education association in Thailand. This makes it easier for UNESA if it wants to collaborate with universities in Thailand.
This collaboration at UNESA was attended by 4 universities that are UNESA partners, namely Hasyim Asy'ari University (Unhasy), Dinamika University, Kadiri Islamic University, Dinamika University, and PGRI Adi Buana University.

Slamet Setiawan added, indicators of success There are 3 things to this collaboration, namely, the first is that the academic community at UNESA is directly involved in continuing and realizing what the collaboration has created. Second, improve UNESA's position in the world ranking. Lastly, it can generate income for UNESA.
Prasert Kanthamanon, Senior Vice President for Administration, King Mongkut University of Technology Thonburi explained that ASHL has a mission. First, strengthening member institutions in terms of teaching, research and community service which contribute to national and regional development.
Second, fostering a network of development of higher education institutions with other regional and international organizations in terms of teaching and study. Third, provide information, suggestions and opportunities for higher education development. Lastly, to promote academic mobility programs at all levels.
