Unesa. AC ID. SURABAYA– Surabaya State University (Unesa) is holding an International Petanque Tournament at the Petanque Field, Faculty of Sports and Health Sciences (FIKK) 4 – 7 July 2024. The International Petanque Open is being held in the context of Unesa's 60th Anniversary and provides prize money totaling hundreds of millions of rupiah. .
The opening of the 2024 Petanque Unesa international tournament was carried out by the Mayor of Surabaya, who was represented by the Head of the Surabaya City Dispora, Eringgo Perkasa, Thursday (4/7/2024). In his speech, Erigo expressed his gratitude to the Chairman of the Indonesian Petanque Sports Federation (FOPI) Prof. Dr. Nurhasan M Kes for making the city of Surabaya the host.
"We believe that there are young people who have positive motivation, "then the future of the nation will be bright, resilient and remain steadfast from negative influences, while at the same time being able to achieve brilliant achievements in the future," explained Eringgo in delivering the mayor's remarks.
Tournament international petanque at UNESA
Meanwhile, the Chief Executive of the 2024 Unesa International Petanque Tournament, Nur Salsabila Rhesa Pandhadha Putra, S.Pd., M.Sc. explained that this tournament was held in the context of Unesa's 70th Anniversary in 2024.
“This tournament is an annual activity, a continuation of last year's tournament. "Apart from being part of Unesa's Anniversary, we are also part of enlivening the 2024 ASEAN University Games (AUG) XXI at Unesa," said Nursa.
It was also conveyed that there were 176 single teams participating in the tournament this time, 128 teams for doubles, and 96 teams for triples. "Unesa athletes all participated in this tournament, as did athletes from East Java.
UNESA itself issued 16 single teams. "Then there are also those from abroad, such as from Brunei Darussalam, then several provinces from Malaysia, and there are also representatives from Thailand who have world champion pétanque athletes," explained Nursa.
Nursa added that his party is providing a total prize of Rp. 150 million. "This is a pétanque tournament with the biggest prizes in Indonesia," he concluded.[]
