Saefuddin Zuhri, M.Kes., Directorate of Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases (P2PTM) of the Surabaya City Health Service said that the perwali was not to prohibit Surabaya residents from smoking, but to regulate some areas that could be used for smoking and which areas should not exist. cigarette smoke. "This guardianship is to place people who smoke and those who are not in accordance with their respective human rights," he explained.
Based on the perwali, non-smoking areas include; health facilities, places for teaching and learning, children's activity arenas, places of worship, public transportation, workplaces and public places such as sports venues, swimming pools, refueling stations, green open spaces, stadiums, monuments and others. "Everyone smokes in the space provided for smoking," he said.
For those who violate the rules of the no smoking area, will be subject to administrative sanctions in the form of; verbal reprimand, a fine of Rp. 250 thousand and or carrying out social work. "I hope that, for the common good, the participating friends can comply with these rules and reprimand those around them who smoke in any place," he said.

"This Perwali needs to be appreciated, this is an interesting step towards an advanced and orderly city of Surabaya. The arrangement of KTR is a form of concern for our health together," he said.
Budiyati, Kasatgas KTR explained that about more than 7,000 scientific articles both nationally and internationally discussed the dangers of smoking for health. He emphasized that smoking is a person's right, but the rights of others without cigarette smoke cannot be ignored. "Therefore, through the guardianship, we will arrange areas for smoking and which areas cannot be smoked," he said.
"We need to know that BPJS Kesehatan handles cases of diseases caused by smoking as the main and highest problem compared to other diseases. Smoking can cause various chronic diseases. This indicates that it is true that smoking is a serious problem that must be addressed.
