Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA-As part of efforts to strengthen international cooperation, the State University of Surabaya (UNESA) again signed a cooperation contract with Walailak University, Thailand on Tuesday, 07 June 2022. The collaboration is related to many programs including student exchanges, conferences, collaborative research and publications.
Deputy Chancellor for Planning and Cooperation UNESA, Dr. Sujarwanto, M.Pd., stated that the signing was a continuation of the previous cooperation. In other words, the collaboration between UNESA and Walailak University was extended.
"The reason is, of course, that the cooperation that we have established has a positive impact on both parties, so it should be extended. This is part of a shared commitment to improve the quality of the implementation of the tridharma of higher education both at UNESA and at Walailak University," he said.

Sujarwanto hopes that the collaboration will involve many other study programs. Of course, gradually and based on the analysis of program needs in the field. "At this moment, I agree if the cooperation is continued. We will carry out the cooperation stages step by step to get results in accordance with the initial objectives of the cooperation," he explained.
Meanwhile, the Dean of the Faculty of Political Science and Law at Walailak University, Prof. Dr. Surasit Vajirakachorn expressed his gratitude for UNESA's willingness to extend the cooperation. "Thank you for your willingness. And I hope I can still return to UNESA for the third time, four times, and so on to continue this extraordinary collaboration," he said.
Head of the UNESA International Affairs Office, Asrori, S.S., M.Pd., said that previously there had been an MoA with the Faculty of Political Science and Law at Walailak University with the UNESA Faculty of Languages and Arts, but the signing of the MoU was done in 2019. "At that time we had accepts ten students from Walailak University to study at BIPA," he said.
Asrori further explained, in the last 2-3 years, cooperation has begun to develop towards research. Even in the results of the discussions held after the signing of the MoU and MoA, several faculties at UNESA are also ready to join forces to immediately collaborate with Walailak University. "So, later it will be open to all faculties at UNESA, and they (the leaders of each study program) are ready to bridge," he added.
In addition, Asrori also said that in the discussion forum that was held, the Deputy Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Bambang Yulianto, M.Pd., expressed his plan to form a double degree program. "Hopefully it can be realized later. It's a program, which is interesting and will be the flagship of UNESA," he hoped.
Dean of the Faculty of Languages and Arts, Dr. Trisakti, M.Sc., agreed with the program initiated by the vice chancellor for academics. According to him, this program will increase the attractiveness of UNESA. Moreover, from this program, students will get two diplomas at once. "Later we will coordinate via zoom. So we can know the curriculum and later will discuss further related to the technicalities," he explained.
Trisakti hopes that this long-standing cooperation will be even more positive with the new program initiated. "Hopefully this double degree program can be realized. So that it can complement each other to increase our knowledge and experience in collaborating with Walailak University," he concluded. [UNESA PR]
