Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA-The Islamic Spiritual Activity Unit (UKKI), the UKM Care for Humanity and the Crisis Center Mitigation Unit (SMCC) of the State University of Surabaya (UNESA) collaborated to hold Mabar at the Az-zahara Orphanage, Wiyung, Surabaya on April 24, 2022. Mabar in this activity is not 'playing together' like in the world of gamers. However, it is a sharing activity. Mabar is an acronym for Ramadhan Sharing with Binjar.
In the orphanage, they held various activities. Among them, entertainment or playing with children, there is a quiz on religious insight, reading short letters juz 30 and giving aid. The aid is the result of the donations they previously collected.
The event with the theme 'Clean the Heart by Sharing in the Holy Month' was attended by Dr. Diana Rahmasari, M.Sc., Trustees of UKM Cares for Humanity. He said that students should be heavily involved in humanitarian or social activities. Therefore, the spirit of sharing must be pioneered by young people as part of strengthening a sense of empathy and togetherness.
“It feels less positive if we are smart in class and achievement on campus if we are not useful for others. Therefore, the personal predicate must be accompanied by a contribution, one of which is by sharing and entertaining the children. This is our collective duty,” said the psychologist and Chair of the UNESA SMCC.
Reza Dwi Ramadhan as the head of the UNESA Humanity Care UKM stated that the activity was part of their efforts to interpret the holy month of Ramadan. According to him, the blessings of the month of Ramadan are not only in the sense of being sky high, but also must be grounded through their roles and direct contributions to others.
“The month of blessings, of course we have to color it by sharing. Sharing is not necessarily a matter of transferring certain materials or goods to the recipient, but further as a joint effort in spreading the spirit of sharing itself to others. Isn't some of our property their rights (orphans, ed)," he explained.
Aqidatul Izzah, Coordinator of the UKM Committee for Humanity Care, hopes that the children of the Az-zahara Orphanage can be entertained and smile through the activities offered. “Children can get their own benefits and goodness and of course become a field of reward and bring blessings to the parties involved. This is also motivation for us to be enthusiastic about spreading goodness," he said.
"Alhamdulillah, we thank our ANESA UKM friends who have come to share and contribute to the children here. Hopefully this good intention is accepted and rewarded by Allah SWT by being given abundant sustenance. Most importantly this is part of how we motivate ourselves so that they are always on the right path and have the spirit to share with others," said the caretaker of the orphanage. [UNESA PR]
