Unesa. ac.id, SURABAYA—The "Home of Champions" Campus is aggressively expanding its collaboration network with various parties, both within and outside the country. One of Surabaya State University's (UNESA) collaboration partners is the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The collaboration between the two continues to be strengthened and further developed in the fields of arts, culture and sports. This was discussed between the leadership of UNESA and the Indonesian Embassy in Riyadh during a visit to Saudi Arabia some time ago.
"Our excellence in the fields of arts, sports and disabilities was one of the things discussed when we met with the Indonesian Ambassador to Riyadh, Dr. Abdul Aziz Ahmad yesterday. "The direction is how UNESA's excellence can strengthen diplomacy through arts-culture-sports and strengthen arts-cultural values in Indonesian schools there," said UNESA Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nurhasan, M.Kes.
The Chancellor, who is familiarly called Cak Hasan, added that the Indonesian Embassy asked UNESA directly to send an arts and culture team to be involved in the Indonesian Embassy's activities such as performances, exhibitions and other activities.
Apart from that, UNESA was also asked to send sports teams, especially badminton and sepak takraw. The UNESA team will later teach about these sports at Indonesian schools in Riyadh.
"We also propose that sports teams not only include badminton and takraw, but we also offer other sports teams such as pencak silat and massage. . "This is important, because it relates to the identity of national sports and its benefits for fitness," said the sports science professor.
During the meeting, continued Cak Hasan, cooperation in the field of education and the wrong tridharma of higher education were also discussed. One realization is sending students to the MBKM or international internship program which will start in March this year.
This collaboration program has been carried out previously where UNESA students taught at Indonesian schools in Saudi Arabia. This program was further developed during the meeting.
"As a result of the meeting, we offered full scholarships for undergraduate studies at UNESA for Indonesian school graduates, both in Riyadh and Jeddah. "Hopefully this scholarship will further motivate students who are in fact the children of Indonesian migrant workers there to pursue higher education and achieve their dreams," hoped Cak Hasan. []
