Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA-Students of Educational Technology (TP) Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNESA) have their own film community. Kalm Tipi's name. The name is an acronym for the Educational Technology Film Community, which was formed in 2016 as a forum for students to work.
“So there is a course called Video Media Development. Its application is video production. It's a shame if only courses are made, then we provide a platform for them (Educational Technology students, ed) to produce films," said Thoriq Al Isbach, chairman of Kalm Tipi for the 2020-2022 period.
For almost 6 years of existence, Kalm Tipi has produced many short films which have been uploaded on his Youtube channel and included in various student film festivals. In fact, one of their works, "Adi Real" managed to get the Best General Favorite Film Nomination at the 2021 Lampung Film Festival.
Apart from producing short films, this year Kalm Tipi is also producing a web series with the theme of bucin (slave of love). The process of making this web series is quite different. Because, Kalm Tipi opens the opportunity for all Educational Technology students to submit their ideas via the google form that has been provided. All ideas that have been collected are then curated by the Kalm Tipi team.
“So we have several options that our friends offer, then we choose one to discuss again. After that, we make a complete script, and look for suitable talents,” explained Thoriq. It can be said that all students majoring in Educational Technology have the opportunity to have their ideas realized in the form of a web series. Kalm Tipi also opens opportunities for anyone, even students outside the department to register themselves as talents. It is an opportunity to work together.

This web series, entitled 'Rhea', tells the story of a woman who comes from a hard-working family. Until one day he had to follow his father to go far out of town for work. This woman who has a hobby of taking pictures accidentally stumbled upon a café while walking around her new neighborhood.
He then met and fell in love with a barista there. Thoriq explained that this web series with the romance drama genre has special features compared to short films with similar themes. “There are three perspectives here, starting from the female, male and elderly actors. Both depend on the audience's point of view, whether they want to judge as protagonists or antagonists," he explained.
This web series is quite short, only totaling 4 episodes. Thoriq hopes that the next Kalm Tipi successor will make “Rhea season 2”. Because according to him there is still a lot that can be explored from the web series, but I still return it to the next management, whether to continue or not," he concluded. [UNESA PR]
