unesa.ac.id. Faculty of Language and Art (FBS) , Una University (Unesa) held a Literacy Workshop with Singapore Indonesian School (SIS) on Thursday, April 10, 2025.
This activity took place in online. institution. This workshop is a collaborative event to create an interactive and constructive learning atmosphere.
Dean of FBS Unesa, Syafi 'Ul Anam said that this activity was not only limited to educational programs, but also became an important part of the Faculty Internationalization Strategy, especially study programs.

In line with that, the Principal of Singapore Indonesian School, Semuel Kuriake Balubun, appreciated the FBS Unesa steps in establishing synergy with SIS. He emphasized that the existence of SIS itself is based on the spirit of strengthening the sense of nationalism and introducing the nation's culture. In his presentation, he highlighted the phenomenon of the use of language that had developed in the community, but often deviated from the rules of standard language. "Books are a window of the world, literature is the key," he said, emphasizing the role of literature as a foundation in shaping strong literacy awareness.
The second speaker, Ahsan Shohifur Rizal deepened the discussion on literary literacy. He said that literature plays an important role in fostering a culture of reading, especially among the younger generation.
"Literature is not only a medium of expression, but also a reflection tool that shapes cultural character and understanding," explained the Unesa academicians. He explained that the Deep Learning approach can be a solution in strengthening sustainable literacy culture in the school environment.
This optimization, according to him, not only supports the learning process, but also can improve the ability problem solving , reduce student anxiety, and create more effective learning outcomes.
