Unesa.ac.id, Surabaya-Physical health and mental resilience are strongholds of self-defense in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic. Therefore, it must be really cared for and guarded. Mentally, students are a group that is vulnerable to fragility and usually due to various factors.
In order to identify problems experienced by students, the Institute for Learning and Professional Development (LP3) Surabaya State University held a Workshop on the Preparation of Student Problem Identification Instruments, on Thursday (06/05/2021).
This activity was followed by the Counseling Instrument Compilation and Guidance team. The goal is to encompass a comprehensive arrangement of instruments in order to identify problems experienced by students. On this occasion, Dr. Rifa Hidayah, M.Si. from the Faculty of Psychology UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim, Malang was present as a speaker.
He said that the arrangement of instruments could support the development of student counseling. According to him, counseling is important, because students are not only educated to be smart in academics, but also have a strong character who are not easily fragile in life. The problems that usually occur in students are personal. For example dating, motivation to learn, family problems, finances, and other problems.
This graduate of the Doctoral Program in Psychology, UGM, said that in compiling instruments and collecting data, it must be really valid and comprehensive. In addition, the statements in the instrument should not lead a person within the agreed norm or the prevailing norm agreement. So that the data obtained in identifying is a problem that is actually experienced by students.
According to him, after the identification stage, there needs to be a follow-up. This can be in the form of individual or group counseling services. It could also be in the form of mentoring students from higher education institutions involving psychotherapy and psychoeducation. "This approach has been carried out by UIN Malang, through the online E-Counseling system, this counseling service is effective in helping to solve student problems," he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of LP3, Dr. H. Bachtiar S. Bachri, M. Pd. hopes that the instruments that have been prepared can later become systematic guidelines for students and assist them in dealing with and solving their problems and ultimately achieving their goals and finding their respective paths of success.
