Foreign students play gamelan in the 2024 Workshop Performance at FBS
Unesa.ac.id., SURABAYA—Foreign students from various countries studying in the BIPA (Indonesian Language for Foreign Speakers) program participated in the Workshop Performance 2024 which was held by the Bachelor of Javanese Language and Literature Education study program, FBS at the Youth Arena, Campus 2 Lidah Wetan, on Tuesday, April 30 2024.
Students from South Korea, China, to Madagascar He also played the gamelan looking expert. Apparently, they had been learning about gamelan since the first semester.
The performance, which was attended by hundreds of students from SMPN 12 Gresik, presented Kethoprak "Suminten Ngedan" and Ludruk "Keblinger Jagoan Kidul Kali". This activity aims to develop creativity, strengthen friendship, and mobilize potential through the art of Ludruk and Kethoprak.
"This show was initiated "and is a follow-up to the department's aspects, which Mukti Wibowo could say, the intention is to screen potential, especially in the field of characterization of Ludruk and Kethoprak," said the chief executive, Firmansyah Andhika Pratama.
He added, the involvement of BIPA students could be a means of introducing or strengthening Indonesian culture to foreign students. As well as increasing collaboration between students and programs at FBS.
Deputy Dean for Learning, Research and Community Service, Student Affairs,. and Alumni Didik Nurhadi, M.Pd., M.A., Ph.D., appreciated the cultural diversity present in this performance. He hopes that activities like this can continue to be encouraged and carried out.
One of them is a BIPA student, Sukma (Indonesian name) from Korea mentioned his happy experience of being able to be involved and experience first hand the atmosphere of ludruk and kethoprak activities which are part of Indonesian culture.
"There is a lot of Indonesian culture, including many traditional musical instruments. I and other BIPA friends have learned how to "I play gamelan, but this is the first time I've been involved in a big performance like this," he said.[]
