UNESA leadership has agreed to collaborate in a number of fields with the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) and the College of the Arts (COTA) in Windhoek, Namibia.
Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA—Surabaya State University (UNESA) continues to expand its international network through working visits to the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) and the College of the Arts (COTA) in Windhoek, Namibia, on Monday, 18 November 2024.
The UNESA delegation was led by Chairman of the Board of Trustees (MWA) Haris Supratno; Deputy Chancellor for Law, Management, Finance, Resources and Business Bachtiar Syaiful Bachri; and Director of the Postgraduate School, Bambang Yulianto; and his staff.
This activity was also attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Namibia. During this visit, UNESA signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with COTA which focused on postgraduate programs in the arts.
The initial result of this collaboration is a plan to register 10 teachers from COTA to continue their Masters in Arts Management studies at UNESA. Then the next meeting will be held on Tuesday, 26 November 2024, to discuss other joint programs.
Meanwhile, with NUST, UNESA is exploring research collaboration in the field of renewable energy, especially solar panels involving the Faculty of Engineering ( FT) and the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA).
The implementation of the collaboration is being implemented in stages and continuously. In the near future, one of the professors from NUST will give a guest lecture at UNESA.
The first implementation is planned for early December 2024, when Collin, professor and Deputy Chancellor II of NUST, will give an online guest lecture for UNESA lecturers and students.
Collaboration was also initiated with The Indonesian Embassy in Namibia, which plans to bring in dance and music teachers from UNESA to teach in the Windhoek community.
In addition, the Indonesian Embassy will help promote UNESA's international programs, such as UGS and KNB scholarships, to campuses and schools in Namibia.
As part of efforts towards a global Class University (WCU), UNESA also collaborates with COTA and NUST to share lecturer data to support peer academic initiatives in improving the QS World University Rankings ranking.
“This collaboration is a concrete step for UNESA in strengthening Indonesia's educational contribution at the global level and encouraging joint innovation in various fields," said Haris Supratno, Chair of the UNESA MWA.
UNESA Deputy Chancellor II, Bachtiar Syaiful Bachri added, this collaboration opens up great opportunities for the development of mutually beneficial research and educational programs.
"This step shows Unesa's commitment to expanding global impact, developing strategic collaborations, and strengthening the role of Indonesian educational institutions in the international arena," said the UNESA curriculum development professor.[*]
