Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA—Through its excellence in sports, Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNESA) is committed to fostering and giving birth to Indonesian football talents. This commitment is evidenced by the presence of the UNESA FC ACADEMY or the UNESA Football Academy which was officially launched with the English league club, Tranmere Rovers FC at the Football Field, Lidah Wetan Campus, Sunday, August 27 2023.
The launch of the academy was part of the series with the Football Festival and Coaching Clinic which was attended by 120 participants aged 7-14 years. In addition, 25 soccer coaches were also joined, consisting of Physical Education, Sports and Health (PJOK) teachers and students from the Surabaya area.
They learned soccer techniques and strategies with professional coaches from Tranmere Rovers FC, English. They are Dan O'Donnell and Matt Hunter.
Matt Hunter, as academy manager of Tranmere Rovers F.C. expressed his appreciation for the activities and collaboration with UNESA. He said his arrival to UNESA was to see the potential and talents of Indonesian football.
“It is an honor for us to be present at UNESA. Thank you for all the facilities that have been provided. Our arrival wants to find new talent from the children here. Hopefully all the players here can enjoy the training. We hope that this cooperation can continue," he said.

This activity was also attended by the Director of the UNESA Labschool, Prof. Dr. Sujarwanto, M.Pd. He said that this activity was a form of UNESA's commitment to developing young people in the sport of football through the UNESA FC Academy.
“We already have coaches who are licensed nationally and internationally. Incidentally, later Tranmere Rovers F.C. will continue to monitor learning developments at UNESA FC Academy. The entire curriculum will be adapted to the academy there," he explained.
Meanwhile, the Dean of the Faculty of Sports and Health Sciences (FIKK), Dr. Dwi Cahyo Kartiko, S.Pd., M.Kes., expressed his hope for all the children or participants who attended to continue practicing, ready to compete and compete.
“The best players at the UNESA Football Academy will get the opportunity to study at Tranmere Rovers F.C. in England. Take advantage of these activities and opportunities to practice and as motivation to be enthusiastic about competing," he hoped. [*]
