Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA-After a long silence from lecture activities, finally the UNESA campus began to look crowded on Monday, September 20, 2021. Some students and lecturers began to conduct lessons or face-to-face meetings (PTM) for the first time.
Dr. M. Turhan Yani., M.A., Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Law UNESA said that according to the Circular of the Chancellor of UNESA, the PTM was held in a limited and gradual manner which was attended by students of Greater Surabaya and the class of 2020-2021.
He continued, the first day of the PTM, the campus felt alive again. The energy of learning and teaching is back. Motivation is high again. "Hopefully this is a good start and the pandemic can end," he hoped. Almost two years of online learning, what are the impressions of students and lecturers on the first day of PTM?
Riyadi, S.Pd., M.A., a lecturer in the UNESA History Study Program, said that the first meeting with students in his class seemed to let go. He admitted that he got a lot of surprises, both from the side of the students who certainly changed a lot, as well as from the side of the interaction in the classroom.
He continued, although learning and learning so far have been done virtually, the quality of interaction and communication will be very much different from direct or offline learning. “What I didn't get in the virtual space, such as the depth of interaction and emotion, finally seemed to be answered and answered again through this PTM. Because educating is not only about material, but also involving the heart and emotions,” he said after teaching at UNESA Ketintang Campus.
For the teaching scheme, said Riyadi, student attendance is only half of the number and capacity of the room. The seating distance is set at least 1.5 meters. Everyone must wear a mask. Although all have shown proof of vaccination. However, before entering class, it is still mandatory to wash hands and check body temperature, and obey the procedures in the campus environment. What about students who can't go offline? "They follow online lectures from home," he said.
Riyadi hopes that the Covid-19 pandemic can really end, vaccinations are also carried out massively, and life can return to normal. Campus life, the atmosphere of learning and teaching on campus can return to normal.
Meanwhile, Syauqi, a student of the UNESA History study program, said the same thing. He admitted that he was happy to be PTM on campus. Moreover, he is a class of 2020 who from the start did not feel the PTM atmosphere on campus. "So far I haven't been to campus, have I, how will it be, like there's a new spirit and it's like being a new student," he said.
Although online learning tends to be easy to do. However, he still prefers PTM on campus. Because, according to him, lectures not only get material and knowledge from lecturers in the classroom, but also from interactions with lecturers and fellow students outside the classroom. "It's this kind of interaction that I believe can motivate and remove deadlocks in learning," he said.
In addition, with PTM he can also make many friends and can understand each other. The demands of education in this century are not only intelligence in the academic field, but also about networking, communication and how to collaborate in it.
“Collaboration and innovation will only be obtained if we can be in line, together, forum and understand each other. That's important," he said enthusiastically. "Hopefully Covid-19 really ends, and students can enter fully, so that learning and learning can run as usual and as they should," he hoped. (UNESA PR)
