Most recently, UNESA was included in the list of 10 campuses with the best quality education in Indonesia in THE SDGs Impact Rankings 2022 released by Times Higher Education (THE) at the end of April. In this ranking, UNESA is ranked 8th nationally or 401-600 out of 1,180 world institutions. This ranking is supported by quite good educational publications and a fairly large percentage of first students or first generation students.
THE SDGs Impact Rankings are university rankings compiled based on the success of universities in implementing the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) or sustainable development goals, the United Nations.
In THE SDGs Impact Rankings, UNESA actually participated for the first time by submitting 7 SDGs; 1) SDGs 1 on No Poverty. 2) SDGS 3 on Good Health and Well-being. 3) SDGs 4 on Quality Education. 4) SDGs 5 on Gender Equality. 5) SDGs 10 related to Reduced Inequality. 6) SDGs 16 is related to Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions. 7) SDGs 17 is related to Partnerships for the Goals.
From the number submitted, there are three leading SDGs of UNESA with the highest scores, a) the first SDGs, No Poverty, ranked 8th nationally or 101-200 out of 769 world institutions. b) The fourth SDGs, Quality Education, is ranked 8th nationally or 401-600 out of 1,180 world institutions. c) Fifth SDGs, gender equality, ranked 7th nationally or 201-300 in the world from 938 institutions.
UNESA Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nurhasan, M.Kes., appreciates the cooperation of all parties and the ranking team who have tried to show the excellence of UNESA in various aspects, including education on the national and international levels. According to him, this achievement is a gift for UNESA right in the month of education (National Education Day, May 2, 2022). "This is the right thing, entering the month of education, UNESA turns out to be in 8th place as the campus with the best quality education in Indonesia. This is an extraordinary and proud achievement," he said.
The ranking, said Cak Hasan, is a form of innovation and contribution made by UNESA in the field of education. On the other hand, as a commitment in advancing the campus towards a world class university (WCU). “This is a motivation for us together in looking forward. Our challenges (universities, ed) in the future are increasingly challenging. Therefore, UNESA must be the birthplace of innovators and pioneers of the progress of the nation and state," he said.
In improving the quality of education, Cak Hasan emphasized the importance of collaboration, "Education now cannot only rely on campuses or schools, but must listen to each other and synergize and partner with various parties," he added. Therefore, Unesa has a fairly high partnership with various institutions to the business world and the industrial world to share benefits for the learning process and character building of students.
