Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA-The socialization of Presidential Regulation Number 86 of 2021 concerning the Great Design of National Sports (Perpres DBON) organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia (Menpora RI) received a positive response and support from various stakeholders. Two of them came from the Provincial Government of East Java and the State University of Surabaya (UNESA).
In the event which was held at the Double Tree by Hilton Hotel, Surabaya on Friday, November 19, 2021, the Governor of East Java, Dra. Hj. Khofifah Indar Parawansa, M.Sc., welcomed and supported the implementation of DBON as an effort to improve national sports achievements. He explained that East Java was identifying Olympic sports in order to strengthen athletes and coaches.
Set up a nursery for Olympic sports athletes
One of East Java's leading sports is archery, which has always been the overall champion for ten times in PON. This is an extraordinary potential that can even become Indonesia's leading sport in international sporting events. In addition, East Java has also prepared a nursery for athletes in Olympic sports.
"We already have the land, we have prepared it, it's just a matter of where we focus on this sport and where for that sport," he said. He believes that East Java's sports talent is very abundant and can record the best records and achievements at the Olympic or Paralympic level. "This is a strategic and positive question for the athletes, coaches and national sporting achievements of course," he said.
Plan an Anti-Doping Lab
Meanwhile, UNESA Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nurhasan, M.Kes., stated that from the beginning his party had fully supported the success of the design even to the implementation of DBON. His party has prepared everything, human resources to infrastructure. "The training camp at UNESA, we even direct our lecturers to improve and perfect the national sports ecosystem," he said.
The man who is usually called Cak Hasan added that his party and the Menpora had discussed the construction of the Anti-Doping Laboratory at UNESA. So that later, there will no longer be problems and sanctions regarding doping against Indonesian athletes competing at the international level.
"We already have the building, and the inside will be filled by the Minister of Youth and Sports," said Nurhasan. "The point is that UNESA always supports and is ready at any time to improve the quality and achievements of Indonesian sports," he said.
Focus on the Olympics and Paralympics
In his briefing, the Indonesian Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. H. Zainudin Amali, S.E., M.Si, expressed his commitment to embracing various parties to collaborate to improve Indonesian sports achievements. The focus going forward is the Olympics and Paralympics. He said that the purpose of DBON's presence was to improve national sports achievements at the international level, strengthen collaboration of all stakeholders and improve the economy.
East Java is the place for the sports industry
He added that the scope of major sports designs are recreational sports, educational sports, achievement sports and the sports industry (sports tourism). East Java is an area where the sports industry develops. He encouraged the regions, including East Java, to continue to develop their existing potentials, including the sports industry that is able to encourage the realization of achievements at the international level.
"If we are serious and committed, I believe, Indonesia's target for the Olympics and Paralympics in the future will be achieved. We can print champions,” said the Menpora enthusiastically.

The activity was attended by the Menpora, East Java Provincial Government, Central DPRI, DPRD, Surabaya City Government, UNESA leaders and experts, chairmen and coaches of various sports, ranks of East Java sports federations and organizations and athletes who are members of East Java sports organizations and federations.
