Unesa.ac.id., SURABAYA–One of the lecturers at the Faculty of Sports and Health Sciences (FIKK) recently received a full scholarship from the United States (US) Government to study at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA). The lecturer is Dr. Donny Ardy Kusuma, S.Pd., M.Kes.
This scholarship is known as a sports diplomacy program designed to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and understanding about sports between the United States and other countries such as Indonesia.
“At first I received a kind of scholarship, from the United States government. "So, my coming to America was fully paid for by the US Government in a scholarship scheme," he said.
While at UCLA, the lecturer who is familiarly called Donny studied various aspects of sports, including sports management and how to foster values. sports values such as discipline and responsibility in higher education.
He used this learning opportunity as well as to build networks between UNESA and the campuses he visited in the United States, including UCLA.
“Program This study is like a class session but goes straight to what I really want to know. "So we share the tips and study strategies," he said.
Donny emphasized how important it is for learning experiences to increase knowledge and knowledge in Uncle Sam's country, which has a sports industry and internationally renowned universities.

After completing this program, the United States government expects further cooperation. "Well, in the future I want to plan to open a network between UNESA and the campuses I am going to in the United States. This means that we really need to learn here, we really need it. "Moreover, one of our strengths is sport," he explained.
According to him, sport in the United States is not only considered as a medium for improving fitness. More than that, sport is used as a tool to increase cooperation, discipline, responsibility, competition and honesty.
Sport has become a life skill that is applied in everyday life. He hopes to be able to bring the knowledge and experience gained from his studies in the United States to Indonesia with the aim of increasing the achievements and value of sports at UNESA.
In this framework, he also wants to create several programs at UNESA specifically for sports . Apart from that, he also hopes to open up opportunities for UNESA students to do internships in the United States. He believes that the abilities of Indonesian students can compete with students in the United States.
“I have spoken with several lecturers in the US who I know through my class activities and they want to synergize with Indonesia. "That is my target in the future," he said.[*]
