Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA-Surabaya State University (UNESA) collaborated with Tropicana Slim, and Perwosi East Java held a Road to World Diabetes Day 2021, Virtual Health Education on Monday (27/09/2021). The event carries the theme 'Creating a Family Health Journal'. Hj Arumi Bachsin, Chair of the East Java PKK Mobilization Team, was present as the keynote speaker.
In addition, there were also three speakers, namely Chusnur Ismiati, SH. MM as chairman of Dharma Wanita Surabaya City, Felicia Kartawidjaja as Manager of Nutrifood Research Center, and Lini Anisfatus Sholihah, S. Gz., M.Sc. as a Nutrition Lecturer at the State University of Surabaya. This event was held with the aim of educating the public about the importance of maintaining sugar, salt and fat (GGL) intake.
Arumi Bachsin said that diabetes is one of the diseases that many Indonesian people suffer from. Diabetes can be overcome by maintaining a healthy lifestyle, such as regular exercise, adequate sleep, and maintaining a healthy diet. "Hopefully this kind of activity can be carried out massively so that more Indonesian people, especially East Java, will know the information," he hoped.
Felicia Kartawidjajaputra as the first speaker, conveyed about a healthy lifestyle. He said that there are many things that can be done to achieve the key to a healthy life. The results of the study, at least 40% of Indonesian people consume fried foods with bad fats more than once a day, especially during the Pandemic period all activities are carried out online, which means that people spend more time in front of their devices.
This unhealthy habit will make you gain weight. In addition, activities like this can also increase excess weight and can lead to obesity. Obesity is an important factor that increases many other chronic diseases. The risk of obesity is the risk of chronic disease, catastrophic illness, and risk factors for the severity of COVID-19. There are three important pillars that can maintain health, namely, a healthy diet, exercise habits, and adequate rest. "Diet needs to be regulated, that's very important," he said.
Chusnur Ismiati, said that the Indonesian people must be aware of health by paying attention to balanced nutritional intake during this new normal period. At least consume enough fruits and vegetables, and apply a healthy lifestyle and physical activity. "Nine out of ten people in Indonesia consume less vegetables and fruits, because the mindset that is embedded in the heads of some Indonesians is that vegetables and fruits are expensive," he explained.
In addition, the body needs vitamins, to be able to fulfill it, you can eat foods rich in vitamins such as oranges which are rich in vitamin C and carrots which are rich in vitamin A, and there are many other sources of foods that are rich in vitamins needed by the body. "Getting used to a healthy pattern will create a healthy social environment as well," he said.
Meanwhile, Lini Anisfatus said that diabetes and hypertension are non-communicable diseases. However, it can spread to all ages, especially during a pandemic, all activities are carried out online, so there is less body movement. Data from WHO, 1 in 3 people in the world experience hypertension due to irregular salt intake. Diabetes and hypertension usually cause complications such as kidney failure. "To maintain a healthy intake of sugar, salt and fat (GGL) consume 4 tablespoons of sugar 1 teaspoon of salt 5 tablespoons of fat.
