
UNESA Vocational Student Body raises the UNESA flag after receiving the 2024 APTV Award.
Unesa.ac.id. , SURABAYA–The Student Executive Board (BEM) of the Faculty of Vocational Studies (FV) Surabaya State University (UNESA) succeeded in winning the award as the student organization with the best community empowerment program in the Ormawa Program Developing the Nation (POMN) 2024.
The Vocational BEM received this award at the 2024 APTV Award held by the Academic Directorate of Vocational Higher Education (APTV Directorate), Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (Kemendiktisaintek) in Jakarta on, 16 December 2024.
The supervisor of BEM FV, Firman Yasa Utama, said that the award given by the Ministry of Education and Technology was not apart from the extraordinary dedication and efforts that have been made by BEM FV in implementing community empowerment work programs that are innovative, sustainable and impactful.
The work programs implemented do not only focus on developing student potential, but also strive to improving the quality of life of the community through various activities that are relevant to social and economic needs around campus.
Two of the programs are processing corncob waste into briquettes and introducing, training, processing waste into blessings in Lamongan. This program also invites village governments and related agencies to work together in the realization process and business permits.

This success shows that the UNESA Vocational Faculty BEM has a high commitment to making a real contribution to society, as well as being an inspiration or motivation for other student organizations in Indonesia.
Chairman of BEM FV, Reza Saputra, expressed his pride and gratitude for the award that the student organization he leads has won. For him, this award is the result of hard work, collaboration, dedication of the entire team involved, both students and supervisors, and the people of Wonorejo Village who openly accepted their offer.
The D-4 Electrical Engineering student said that the service they carried out was processing corn cob waste into briquettes, starting from program outreach, training to the community starting from burning, grinding, molding briquettes, to product introduction to the community through a joint exhibition with the Lamongan Regency Department of Industry and Trade.
Apart from that, activities outside of briquette processing include teaching at local village elementary schools, teaching the Koran at the Al-Quran education park, holding Al-Quran tartil competitions drawing and coloring calligraphy, the call to prayer for bilal for children. local children.
Before two months of service they conducted a survey and found that there was 245.30 hectares of corn planting land in Wonorejo Village. However, people do not use corn cobs and just throw them away until they are scattered on the streets.
"With three harvests a year, people throw away a lot of corn cob waste. We saw this potential and finally decided to make briquette training from corn cobs," said the class 21 student. [*]
