Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA—Being able to pursue further studies at master's and doctoral levels is a matter of pride for undergraduate graduates. That is what Mohd Zaidi bin Amiruddin, one of the 107th period graduates of Surabaya State University (UNESA), felt.
In an interview session at GRAHA UNESA on Monday, September 18 2023, the graduate of the Bachelor of Physics Education study program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) said that he received a fast track scholarship, 4 years, master-doctor at the Indonesian University of Education (UPI).
The scholarship, continued Zaidi, is a Masters to Doctoral Education program for Excellent Scholars (PMDSU) from the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research and Technology (Ditjen Diktiristek). This program, which started in 2013, focuses on developing superior graduates to accelerate their education to become doctors at a young age.
To get this scholarship, Zaidi had to take part in a series of selections carried out by two institutions at once. There is a selection held by the Directorate General of Higher Education and Technology and there is a selection at the campus of his choice, UPI.
"Even though I have just graduated, I am actually already studying on the PMDSU scholarship route. The course is specifically programmed. There are qualifications and requirements that must be met during the study, including "GPA and non-academic achievements. Scientific publications are also mandatory," said Zaidi.
In this program, Zaidi focuses on studying every day, reading research in a number of reputable journals and lectures. The schedule system is sometimes in the morning to attend a master's program class and in the afternoon to attend a doctoral program class. Apart from that, there are also several private classes with promoters.

"Meanwhile, through the acceleration program, I have produced scientific publications of around 6 documents for SCOPUS and 18 scientific articles in the Science and Technology Index (SINTA)," explained the man who won the prize. in several competitions.
The key to participating in the program, continued Zaidi, lies in good time management and discipline. On the other hand, you also need an effective way of learning and have plans and targets, both short and long term. According to him, everyone has their own way and that must be discovered.
Zaidi's tips for getting the scholarship are that he wants to study, has a plan, even since his undergraduate studies he has projected himself after graduation where he will go and what he will do. Then, develop a strategy, focus on self-development to meet the qualifications and scholarship requirements. [*]
