Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA-The State University of Surabaya (UNESA) issued a statement regarding the alleged sexual violence case involving the alleged perpetrator of a law major lecturer against female students. This attitude was conveyed by the Head of UNESA Public Relations Unit, Vinda Maya Setianingrum, S.Sos., M.A., and the Head of the UNESA Sexual Violence Prevention and Handling Task Force (PPKS). Mutimmatul Faidah, S.Ag., M.Ag at a press conference at the UNESA Rector's Lobby, Lidah Wetan Campus on Monday, January 10, 2022.
Vinda Maya said that the UNESA Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nurhasan., M.Kes., immediately led the meeting which was attended by the vice chancellors, faculties, departments and the PPKS Task Force. The result decided the attitude as follows:
- UNESA really appreciates and is grateful for the victims who have called for this case. UNESA hopes that victims will have the courage to speak up and make complaints about the sexual violence they have experienced. UNESA is committed to victims to provide a sense of security, guarantee identity confidentiality and provide psychological assistance and is READY to provide legal assistance.
- On the allegation of sexual violence perpetrated by a lecturer in the Department of Law against female students, UNESA took quick and measurable steps as follows:
- UNESA formed an investigation team from elements of the Law Department and the PPKS Task Force to quickly and accurately investigate the case. The team has called and asked for information about the alleged perpetrator and victim.
- UNESA upholds the pro-victim principle.
- Based on the decision of the UNESA leadership and the investigation team, the perpetrator was disabled as of January 10, 2022.
- As part of the mitigation measures against possible similar cases, the team opened a complaint service for the entire academic community who were victims of sexual violence, so that they could be followed up quickly and appropriately.
- UNESA is aware that there are still possible cases or suspected perpetrators and other victims, therefore the team continues to investigate and investigate thoroughly.

Mutimmatul Faidah added that the investigation team went through several stages to investigate the case to completion. The stage is that the team receives reports or complaints. Then reports and complaints are investigated further and collect evidence including summoning victims and perpetrators.
Then, the team conducts a study and after that decides on the status of the case including sanctions. “This case is at the stage of further investigation and evidence is still being gathered.
