Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA-The East Java Provincial National Narcotics Agency (BNNP) launched a service information system application called SIMPEL on the sidelines of the destruction of confiscated narcotics of methamphetamine and marijuana from eight suspects at the BNNP Office, Surabaya, on Friday (17/6/). 2022).
The SIMPEL application was developed by Achmad Yusuf Bagus Setiawan, a final year student of the S-1 Informatics Engineering study program, STATE UNIVERSITY SURABAYA (UNESA) which of course has the support of the East Java BNNP.
Yusuf, who was also present at the application launch event, revealed that initially he had the opportunity to do an internship at BNNP East Java. During his internship, he noticed that the complaint service system at BNNP was still website-based, which according to him was prone to problems, could be network or log-in problems. In addition, it is also less practical.
From that problem, he had the idea to develop a service system from a website-based to an application (android) by adding a public complaint feature connected to the field of eradication. The application can be used by the public and is already available on the Play Store.
Head of BNNP East Java, Brigadier General M. Aris Purnomo said that SIMPEL was officially used by BNNP to improve the quality of information services and public complaints. The application provides three main services; application containing socialization, hearing and urine test; then there is the rehabilitation service which includes aspects of the legal and voluntary process; Then there is the public complaint service.

In addition, there is also a communication service (chat me) that is directly connected to the eradication section. Meanwhile, on the initial appearance or the homepage, general information about services and important information about the BNNP of East Java is available.
“East Java BNNP must be faster in eradicating illicit drug trafficking. Therefore, our work must be smarter. Including collaboration and participation of various parties must continue to be improved. The SIMPEL application can certainly help speed up and make the service system more effective at BNNP so that it will be more alert in eradicating drug trafficking in the community," said Aris.
Aris added, based on data, in general, drug trafficking cases in East Java have decreased from 2019 to 2021. "However, only marijuana distribution cases have increased. Yesterday 16 kg of marijuana was spread in Central Java and Bangkalan Madura," he explained.
