Unesa.ac.id, Surabaya-Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNESA) sent as many as 5,140 students to a number of locations in 87 districts / provinces in the Program of Real Work Lecture model Merdeka Learning Merdeka Campus (KKN MBKM).
The release event was held virtually on Tuesday (23/2/2021) which was attended by the ranks of Vice Wektor of Academic Affairs of UNESA, chairman of MBKM, field guidance lecturer, coordinator, kkn division, student exchange division, PLP division, and students of KKN MBKM 2021 participants.
In his speech, Prof. Dr. Bambang Yulianto, M.Pd., Vice Rector of Academic Affairs of UNESA said that the KKN MBKM program should be used as a place to optimize self-development, improve competencies in the field of expertise and increase the spirit of collaboration, and contribute positively to the community.
If previously a number of courses were studied in the classroom. So through the program, students can explore further the essence and competence of courses in the field with the community. "Quick detection of what the problems of the people in the location, what their needs are, then do their best, deploy their own knowledge to solve the problem," he said.
Because it is still a pandemic, he added, students must maintain health protocols wherever they are. In addition, the most important thing is to be tauladan in terms of the application of health protocols in the community.
"KKN MBKM students should encourage behavior change and become ambassadors for behavior change in their respective locations, so that the community disciplines 3M (wearing masks, keeping distance, and washing hands) and being aware of vaccines," he said. "Do not forget to keep the good name of Unesa, yourself, and mentors," he continued.
The event was also combined with the briefing of KKN participants in the form of a webinar attended by Drs. Amrullah, MBA, MM, USAID Key Partner who discussed "Soft Skills as the Basis of Entrepreneurship". The speaker shared examples of seven soft skills from Joh L. Sonmez's experience as a software developer.
"Soft skills are important to develop. Independent learning campus programs should be viewed as self-development programs. So that later participants are able to easily build a career, able to market self-competence, independent, and able to show productivity. In addition, it is also able to manage finances and achieve a better future," said usaid's key partner.
He likened KKN MBKM as a description of tangled threads that can answer problems through several processes. Students go to the location with the intention and ethical values and morality to go to the location to develop themselves, learn with the community so that students and the community can share and collaborate with each other.
"Let's realize the spirit of collaboration with a variety of creations and innovations. Who gave birth to innovation, he's the one who survived this century. The key is collaboration, competence in creating and innovating," said Amrullah. (Esti/Zam)
