Unesa.ac.id, Surabaya-Surabaya State University made another achievement. This time, Unesa was included in the 2021 UNS Jawametrik ranking and was ranked third out of 10 university nominations in the world. The ranking was announced at the TOP 10 Institutions Awarding Ceremony UNS Jawametrik 2021 which was held virtually on Thursday (20/5/2021).
In this ranking, Unesa competes with several other universities such as UNS, the Indonesian Art Institute (ISI) Surakarta, Gadjah Mada University (UGM), University of Indonesia (UI), Leiden University, Yogyakarta State University, Australia National University, Semarang State University, and ISI Yogyakarta. Surakarta State University won the first place, while Yogyakarta State University won the second place.
The Chief Executive of the 2021 UNS Jawametrik Awarding Ceremony, Ir. Ary Setyawan, Ph.D said that UNS Jawametrik 2021 is an IT-based Javanese culture ranking model that is carefully and adequately designed to provide accurate information on Javanese cultural development institutions or institutions at home and abroad.
The UNS Jawametrik database and information will inform activities and research centers, cultural events, resources, expertise, and Javanese cultural artifacts around the world that will enable these institutions to connect and collaborate globally on Javanese culture. He continued that, in the ranking, around 104 educational institutions were involved in developing Javanese culture in the world.
Meanwhile, the Chairperson of PUI Javanologi UNS Prof. Sahid Teguh Widodo, M.Hum explained that the criteria used in the ranking system consisted of 11 aspects, Javanese studies institutions, Javanese studies academics, Javanese studies research, literature and library collections on Javanese studies, and activities related to Javanese culture.
Apart from that, also from the aspects of the collection of Javanese artifacts, actions or actions (Javanese cultural values and norms), the use of Javanese language, recognition or awards recognized by other institutions related to Javanese culture, collaboration and cooperation related to Javanese culture, and other aspects. digitalization of technology in Javanese culture.
UNS Jawametrik is a university ranking system in the world which is based on Javanese culture which was initiated by the Center for Excellence in Science, Technology, Javanology for Study of Javanese Traditions, UNS with the aim of raising local traditions and wisdom in the international arena as well as a strategy to develop values, culture and national character.
It also aims to provide information from various institutions around the world that protect, develop and take advantage of Javanese culture. Jawametrik will inform you about centers, activities, research, cultural events, resources, experts, and Javanese cultural artifacts around the world that enable these institutions to connect and collaborate.
Unesa Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nurhasan, M.Kes appreciated the Jawametrik UNS ranking system. According to him, through this ranking, it not only strengthens the position of Javanese culture in particular and archipelago culture in general in the world arena, but also becomes the basis for innovation in the preservation and development of Javanese culture based on technology and collaboration.
"The ranking achieved by Unesa is a motivation for Unesa in general, and friends in the Javanese Language and Literature department, as well as other majors related to Javanese culture in particular. This makes us proud and certainly motivates us to develop further aspects of Javanese culture in Unesa in the future, "he said.
