Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA-The leadership of the State University of Surabaya (UNESA) gave full support to the Garnesa Racing Team which 'came down' in the final of the 2021 Energy Efficient Car Contest (KMHE) which took place from 16-19 November 2021 at the Gelora Bung Tomo (GBT) Circuit, Pakal, Surabaya. The support is not only in the form of motivation, but also in the form of appreciation for the success of his team entering the final round.
UNESA Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nurhasan, M.Kes stated that he appreciated the achievements of the FT UNESA team who made it into the final round and hopefully later become champions. According to him, to get to that stage is not easy, it takes a long journey starting from lowering it into a design, then applying it to a real form also takes a lot of time.
Not to mention, he added, the teams had to go through a long series of selection stages and compete with teams from other campuses. “As the host and having a team that qualified for the final, of course I support the UNESA team. Whoever becomes the champion later, of course that is the best based on the results of the assessment from the jury, "he said.
This year, the UNESA team through Garnesa Racing Team went down in the diesel internal combustion engine class, the urban category. The head of the Garnesa Racing Team, Ricky Surya Pranata, said that with the maximum preparations made over the last few months, he and his team are optimistic that this year they can come out as champions again this year. In the same competition in previous years, the UNESA team often won, the last in 2020 managed to come out as champion in the urban category steering and braking system class.
Which team from the campus is UNESA's toughest competitor in the diesel combustion engine class? "The toughest competitor from year to year does not enter the final, but this year, our toughest competitor is next door (the team from UNP, ed)," said Rikcy while pointing to the UNP team stand next to him.
Meanwhile, Khoirul Rizki Launa, Chairman of the UNP Pagaruyuang Team stated, KMHE 2021 is quite extraordinary coupled with a supportive race arena and the infrastructure is also good. He and his team came from Padang with the hope of coming out as champions. He admitted, in the class of competition they participated in, the toughest opponent was the home team. "In the class we took part in there was UNESA, while in general there was ITS," he explained.
He hopes that apart from being a champion, his team will be motivated to continue to work and innovate, especially in designing energy-efficient cars. "Whatever we get here, hopefully it can be a valuable lesson for our team going forward," said Khoirul. [UNESA PR]
