Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA-The highlight of the 2021 Energy-Efficient Car Contest (KMHE) is held at Graha UNESA, Lidah Wetan Campus on Friday, November 19, 2021. KMHE 2021 is a competition organized by Puspresnas, Kemendikbudristek in collaboration with Surabaya State University as the host.
A total of 24 teams from various universities demonstrated energy-efficient car innovation from 16-19 November 2021 at the Gelora Bung Tomo (GBT) Circuit, Pakal, Surabaya. The results of the final round were announced on that closing night. The highlight of the event, which was held in a hybrid manner, was attended by a number of officials from the Ministry of Education and Culture, Puspresnas, the Surabaya City Government and the leadership of the State University of Surabaya.
Dr. Warju, S.Pd., S.T., M.T., as the PIC of the event stated the importance of following up on the results of student innovations that were contested in KMHE. Students and teams and even supervisors need to downstream and commercialize these innovations after making improvements from various inputs or suggestions from judges or experts.
“It is important to register these kinds of innovations. In my opinion, patents, industrial designs and brands are fundamentally in downstreaming and commercialization," he said. He encouraged the participants to certify the innovation and continue to improve the quality of the innovation.
Meanwhile, Dr. Ikhsan, S.psi, MM., Assistant for Economics and Development of the Surabaya City Government, stated that KMHE 2021 participants basically do not only compete, but also contribute to maintaining energy sustainability through the creation of energy-efficient and environmentally friendly vehicles. "This competition is expected to support government programs in technology development and technological efficiency," he said.
Present online, PLT Head of Puspresnas Kemendikbudristek, Asep Sukmayadi, S.Ip., M.Sc., stated, KMHE is a prestigious competition that is the most challenging and undergoes a high level of adaptation. Competition activities require physical interaction in addition to intellectual interaction in the midst of a pandemic situation.
KMHE is part of the implementation of Merdeka Learning Campus Merdeka (MBKM), where student innovation and creativity are fostered and challenged to answer the latest energy issues. "Our spirit of creativity and innovation is being challenged, that's why the theme is One Nyali, One Energy," he said. In addition, he added, KMHE 2021 is one of 12 exemplary programs designed to grow young people who are Pancasila, creative and have strong characters.
Deputy Chancellor for Student Affairs and Alumni UNESA, Dr Agus Hariyanto M.Kes said that this KMHE is able to realize energy-efficient cars produced in the country. He conveyed the message of the Chancellor of UNESA Prof. Dr. Nurhasan, M.Kes., that the world in the future is growing rapidly. The demands are getting higher and the tasks are getting more and more challenging. Only young people who are adaptive, sensitive, creative and innovative can become winners.
“Don't stop innovating and contributing to bring good benefits to the homeland. Show the world that the children of the country, the youth of Indonesia are able to shake the world with their unlimited innovation and creativity," he said conveying the chancellor's message.
Representing the institution, he expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Education and Culture and Puspernas for entrusting UNESA to host this prestigious competition. He hopes that the close cooperation will continue in the next programs and activities. "Once again we thank all parties, Puspresnas, Kemendikbudristek, universities involved and the participants and teams," said the man who is also the Chair of the 2021 KMHE Final Committee.
On that peak night, the moment the participants were waiting for was the announcement of the winners. Enthusiasm was felt and colored the Graha UNESA Ballroom. As for the final result, the team that managed to become the champion. First, the prototype category, 1) gasoline combustion engine class, the UI-SMV HORE team from the University of Indonesia won first place, followed by the Bengawan Team from UNS in second place and the Marawa team from Andalas University in third. 2) class for diesel internal combustion engine class, the first winner is the IST AKPRIND 2 team from the Akprind Institute of Science and Technology, the second winner is the Merapi Team from the Padang State Polytechnic.
Then, 3) the class of combustion engines in ethanol, the first position was won by the Semeru Team from the State University of Malang, the second position was occupied by the Rakata team from the Bandung Institute of Technology, and in the third position was the Cakra Jagad Team from the Madiun State Polytechnic. 4) the electric car class in the first position was Semar Proto UGM from UGM, followed by Batavia Elektra Team from UNJ in second place and Sriwijaya Eco from Sriwijaya University in third.
In the Urban category; 1) In gasoline combustion engine class, the first place was won by the Garuda UNY Eco Team from UNY, the second place by Antawirya from Undip and the third place by Wasaka Team from the University of Lambung Mangkurat. 2) Diesel engine class, GARNESA RACING TEAM from UNESA won first place, in second place was Pagaruyuang Team from UNP and in third place was Authoritarian U-DV Tadulako from Tadulako University.
Then, 3) the class of internal combustion engines in ethanol, the first place was won by the Apatte Elang Perkasa team from Brawijaya University, and the second place was won by the Pandawa Team from Semarang State University. 4) In the electric car class, the Nogogeni team from ITS won first place and the second winner was won by Weimana Udayana from Udayana University.
In addition, the winner of the eco fun race was also announced. In the prototype category, in the gasoline internal combustion engine class, Bengawan Team from UNS, in the diesel internal combustion engine class, Merapi Team from Andalas University, in the ethanol internal combustion engine class, the Cakra Jagad Team from the Madiun State Polytechnic, and in the electric car class they won by Semar Proto UGM and Sriwijaya Eco from Sriwijaya University.
Meanwhile in the urban category, in the gasoline internal combustion engine class, the Antarwirya Team from Diponegoro University, in the diesel internal combustion engine class, the GARNESA RACING TEAM from UNESA, in the ethanol internal combustion engine class, the Pandawa Team from Semarang State University and the Bumi Siliwangi Team from Indonesian University of Education in the electric car engine class.
Then for the off track award, the KHAD Eco Team from the University of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta was awarded as the most reliable vehicle, and the Titen Electric Vehicle Team from the University of Jember was awarded as the toughest team.
