Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA-The Paralympics or Paralympic Tokyo 2020 will begin on August 24, 2021. Indonesia will send its 23 best athletes from seven sports; Badminton, Powerlifting, Athletics, Swimming, Table Tennis, Shooting and Bike Racing. They will fight to improve the Red and White nicks in the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Paralympics.
Motivate: Live with Indonesian Athletes in Tokyo
In order to provide full support for the athletes, the Head of the East Java Dispora Drs. Supratomo, M.Si together with UNESA Chancellor Prof. Nurhasan, M.Kes chatted directly with the Indonesian contingent athlete, from East Java, Khalimatus Sa'diyah who was live directly from Tokyo on Wednesday (25/08/2021) around 12.00 WIB. The live was initiated by the East Java Dispora and Dyan Puspito Rini as the host.
Khalimatus Sa'diyah is a woman from East Java who has participated in defending the Red and White in badminton and will start competing in the singles and doubles classes on September 1, 2021. On that occasion, he asked for the support and prayers of all Indonesian people, so that they could get results that make their homeland proud.
Message for Optimistic and Comfortable Athletes to Compete
On that occasion, Head of East Java Dispora Drs. Supratomo, M.Si gave encouragement to Khalimatus. He advised the athletes that it is best to compete without being burdened and moreover to think about many things. Because, it will make concentration in training and matches can be disrupted.
“Practice like you compete and compete like you train. Focus, be sure and take it easy," he ordered. "We are proud of Khalimatus and other friends in Tokyo, our prayers are together for the success of our friends there," he said again.
Meanwhile, UNESA Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nurhasan, M.Kes on that occasion encouraged and fully supported the Indonesian athletes. To Khalimatus, he advised them to be able to compete as comfortably as possible, without being burdened, without pressure. According to him, the matter of winning is a bonus, the important thing is to enjoy the match with all your heart, do your best, and he believes the results will be good.
"Tell other friends too (Indonesian athletes, ed), we (East Java and Indonesian people, ed) here continue to support and wish the best for friends in Tokyo, compete well, comfortably, and remain optimistic ," he said encouragingly.
Promise Free Education
The man who is usually called Cak Hasan continued, hearing the names of the sons and daughters of East Java and Indonesia being able to arrive in Tokyo and fight in this prestigious event has made the people of the country proud. As a form of appreciation, the Chancellor of UNESA said that UNESA provided free education both S-1 to S-3 to Indonesian athletes who took part in the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics.
“When you come back from there (Tokyo, ed), want to win or not, friends who are interested in studying, please at UNESA we prepare for free, want S-1 or S-2 please. We have discussed this with the Minister (Menpora, ed). For the athletes, we give the best as they do their best for Indonesia in various events," he said encouragingly.
Collaborating with Spain to Develop Education for Children with Disabilities
The free education, he explained, is a form of appreciation for the athletes and as a form of collaboration for East Java and Indonesia who are more accomplished. It's not easy being an athlete, especially one who competes in the international arena. It takes a long process and effort. Each stage is quite challenging.
"This is a form of UNESA's support as a disability-friendly campus, including Indonesian paralympic athletes.
