Unesa.ac.id, Surabaya – 10 participants passed the second stage of the Unesa batik motif design competition in commemoration of the 56th Anniversary of Unesa. Furthermore, the participants who passed will take part in the second assessment stage on Friday, November 20th 2020 by making a presentation related to their work.
The 10 participants who successfully passed consisted of 7 Unesa students, 1 State University of Malang student, 1 middle school student and 1 vocational high school student. The seven Unesa students who successfully passed were Haniyfatul Widad with the title of Buketan Unesa, Rani Puspita Gaya Puji P. with the title of Ngombak Geni, Ellyza Nuzul Syafitriani with the title of Batik Tabebuya Unesa, Aprilia Awanda Putri with the title of Batik Unesa Ayam Bekisar, Drina Vilaruka with the title of Batik Unesa Jaya, Johan Ferdiansyah with the title of Batik Ilmu Luhung, Nur Aini Farida with the title of Bunga Unesa.
Other participants who made it through were Aidatus Salsabila from Muhammadiyah 14 Middle School Karangasem Paciran Lamongan with the title of Motif Batik Unesa, Cindhe Kirana from State University of Malang with the title of Sidomukti Unesa and Kusuma Rini Pelangi from Vocational High School 5 Jember with the title of Di Atas Unesa.
PIC of the Unesa Batik Motif Design Competition, Inty Nahari, S.Pd, M.Ds, said that the number of participants who submitted works was 179 since registration opened October 20th to November 15th 2020. After the first stage assessment was carried out by the jury with judging from various design aspects on November 17th 2020, 10 designs were selected to pass to the second assessment stage.
"Of the 10 designs that passed the 5 best designs will get an award from Unesa," he explained.
Inty Nahari added, there were several things that became the focus of the assessment in the Unesa batik motif design competition; conformity to the theme, beauty of the motif, creativity (the uniqueness and appearance of Unesa's batik), Unity (composition of motifs and coloring) and usability (the possibility of applying designs with written and/or stamped batik techniques).
To note, there are three judges involved in the competition. They are Karsam, MA., Ph.D, lecturer at Dinamika University Surabaya who is also a craftsman and owner of a batik outlet, Dra. Indah Chrysanti Angge, M.Sn, Unesa lecturer and Dra. Urip Wahyuningsih, M.Pd, also an Unesa lecturer. (sir)
