Unesa.ac.id - SURABAYA-The Grand Final for the Selection of Anti-Drugs and Disaster Mitigation Ambassadors by SMCC UNESA will be held on Sunday, November 28, 2021, at the LP3M Building, 9th Floor, UNESA, Lidah Wetan Campus. This event was organized by SMCC UNESA, BNN, BPBD and Kece Media.
In the election of the Anti-Drugs and Disaster Mitigation Ambassadors, the top 16 from the initial selection stage were 43 people, consisting of 23 candidates for Anti-Drugs Ambassadors and 20 candidates for Disaster Mitigation Ambassadors.
In the round of 16 there were 8 candidates each from all faculties at UNESA. The selection of ambassadors carries the theme 'Making the Young Generation Clean Without Drugs and Caring for Humanity'.
Chief Executive, dr. Nur Shanti Retno Pambayun said the activity was aimed at finding superior seeds that would help UNESA, BNN and BPBD to educate, voice campaigns against drugs and prepare disaster-responsive communities.
Nur Shanti added that these ambassadors would later be involved in every SMCC activity related to the role of fighting drugs and disaster mitigation. "SMCC is collaborating with BNN to make Unesa a drug-free campus," he said.
This series of events will start on November 26-28 2021, which consists of quarantine, interviews, talent shows and the grand final. The coronation of the Anti-Drug Ambassadors and UNESA Disaster Mitigation Ambassadors will be held on December 20, 2021, to coincide with the series of UNESA's 57th Anniversary events.
The jury involved, namely, Drs. Tri Arief Praharanto, S.Kom.,MM representatives from BNN, Mukhtarodin Widodo, S.T. BPBD representative, Dr. Diana Rahmasari, S.Psi., M.Sc., as Head of SMCC UNESA, Herma Prabayanti, S.E, Med.Kom as Head of Information Media, Kece Media and Regina Widya Ardhani as Finalist for Miss Indonesia East Java.
After passing the selection stage, 1 pair of Anti-Drug Ambassadors and 1 pair of UNESA Disaster Mitigation Ambassadors were selected. They are M. Ali Irfan from the Faculty of Sports Science (FIO) and Vannesa Diana C. from the Faculty of Engineering (FT). Vannesa said that she would work with other anti-drug ambassadors and SMCC to create a drug-free UNESA Campus (shining).
Ali also added; "You don't have to be an anti-drug ambassador to stay away from drugs. However, here we as anti-drug ambassadors have more responsibilities than friends and once again this is our work and responsibility together," he said.
Meanwhile, the winners of the Disaster Mitigation Ambassadors were Arma Andi K from the Faculty of Education (FIP) and Librania Septa M. from the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB). Libra said "We as ambassadors do not only convey education through speaking, but also through action," he said. "There are still a lot of work projects that will take to the streets, to the villages. We will educate about what will happen when a disaster occurs," he added.
With this election, it is hoped that these Anti-Drug Ambassadors and UNESA Disaster Mitigation Ambassadors can become icons and representatives of UNESA that is free of drugs and disasters, and prepares UNESA campuses to be drug-free and care about humanity. (UNESA PR)
