Unesa.ac.id, Surabaya – Unesa collaborated with JTV to hold a program entitled 'Sinau nang Omah' to prepare prospective students to work on UTBK Unesa 2021 Try Out questions, Monday (3/5). This program is broadcast live via JTV television station or JTV streaming channel at 10.30 - 11.30 WIB.
The program, which is guided by the presenter Pinky Darya, discusses the Indonesian language marries that usually appear on UTBK questions. The discussants were lecturers from Unesa who were experienced in the field of Indonesian, namely Prima Vidya Asteria, S.Pd., M.Pd.
As the presenter, Pinky first asked why this Indonesian language material is important to include in questions. According to Prima, there are at least two reasons. One of them is that Indonesian is one of the materials in reading and writing comprehension.
According to him, the Reading and Writing Comprehension (PBM) section is very important to master. The reason is, as a student with the status of independent study, he must be ready to formally produce written and spoken language.
"We will check all of our friends' initial abilities in speaking Indonesian properly and correctly," he added
"Second, sometimes what happens is that friends who take part in UTBK feel that Indonesian is their own language, so it feels easy, but more often than not, they are even trapped with questions given," Prima continued.
Furthermore, Prima said that when students enter higher education, one of the competencies that needs to be mastered is communication. So according to Prima, through this question of Indonesian, universities want to know the language skills of their students.
"The student context is academic, students will be familiar with scientific writings, reports, papers, proposals, and articles," said the lecturer at the Department of Indonesian Language and Literature, Unesa.
Not all Indonesian material will be studied in this program. However, one material that often comes out during exams is material about spelling. According to Prima, when discussing spelling it is closely related to the rules in Indonesian.
"So that everyone understands how the rules are written, the correct use of punctuation marks and so on," he continued.
There are several questions and answers discussed in the program. In addition, Prima also gave tips on how to do the Indonesian language material exam questions. According to him, in the case of questions related to spelling, it is necessary to get used to pronouncing and writing standard Indonesian.
"Sometimes we feel smarter if we use Indonesian that is not standard, or use a mixture of foreign languages, it does need habituation. We need to promote Indonesian. If we are not proud, then who will, "he said.
UTBK Unesa Try Out was held on Monday (3/5). For participants who enter the best three will get a Unesa entrance ticket and can choose the desired major. In addition to the entrance ticket, they also get free tuition fees for one year and a 50 percent discount on bogus money. The Try Out results will be announced on Tuesday, May 4, 2021. (Suryo / zam)
