Like at the National Sports Week (PON) event ) XXI Aceh-North Sumatra 2024 for example, UNESA through the Faculty of Sports and Health Sciences (FIKK) sent 43 massage concentration students as a physical therapy team or East Java contingent medical team.
"It is a matter of pride for the institution, because our students "They are trusted as physical therapy or medical teams in various sports. Their job is to provide massage recovery services and injury treatment for athletes," said Joesoef Roepajadi, Coordinator of Masase S-1 Study Program.
According to him, being on the physical therapy team at a prestigious sporting competition in the country is a valuable experience for his students. The knowledge they learn in class can be applied directly according to needs and conditions in the field.

Added by Joesoef Roepajadi, with the opening of the Masase S-1 Study Program since last year, there are more and more competent human resources in the field of physical therapy or the medical team produced by UNESA. Also, more and more people are involved in various sports competitions in the country.
One of the undergraduate students in Sports Science with a concentration in Sports Massage Therapy, Andri Pratama admitted that he was proud when he was given the opportunity to contribute directly to a prestigious national sports event. this.
Andri explained the important role of therapists in maintaining athlete fitness during the game. Together with the team, the class of 2020 students are prepared to support athletes' fitness after competing, so that they remain fit for the next competition.
With a total of 43 therapists, added Andri, who are divided into two teams, namely 20 people in Aceh and 24 in North Sumatra, they were assigned to be attached to each sport with responsibilities ranging from stretching to massage recovery after the match.
Andri's valuable experience made him learn many things. He was able to experience the atmosphere of working together with a team, learn to be more mature in making decisions, increase his insight into dealing with injuries, and train his body's resilience when at any time athletes need help.
"I am one of the lucky people to be part of "National event PON 2024 Aceh-North Sumatra, apart from gaining a lot of knowledge and experience, this activity also gives me the opportunity to travel around Indonesia," he said.[]
