Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA - Lecturers and students are required to publish works in international journals. In addition to being one of the graduation requirements, it is also part of the rank requirements. Currently, many predatory journals have sprung up. Therefore, the selection of publication journals cannot be arbitrary.
So that the academic community does not choose the wrong journal, Artificial Intelligence and Scientific Publications, the State University of Surabaya (AIPI UNESA) is holding Coaching Clinics 2022: Choosing Reputable International Journals online, Saturday (04/06/2022).
The activity was carried out in 2 sessions, namely, a general session and a parallel session with several categories of discussion. The fields of science and education are discussed by Prof. Dr. Sutikno, S.T., M.T., Governor of Semarang State University. General areas discussed by Prof. Drs. Slamin, M.Comp.Sc., Ph.D., Governor of the University of Jember. Mathematical Literacy by Dr. Ariyadi Wijaya, S.Pd.Si., M.Sc., from Yogyakarta State University. Then the field of education was discussed by Dr. Parmin, S.Pd., M.Pd., from Semarang State University.
In addition, the fields of language and literature were discussed by Zulfa Zakhiyya, S.Pd., M.Tesol, Ph.D., from Semarang State University. Yuli Rahmawati, M.Sc., Ph.D., from the State University of Jakarta and in the field of marketing and management strategy by Dr. Lili Adi Wibowo, S.Pd., S.Sos., M.M., from the Indonesian University of Education.
Head of the Artificial Intelligence and Scientific Publication Unit, Dr. Elly Matul Imah, M. Kom., in her speech explained that the workshop for parallel sessions was packaged in the form of a coaching clinic to help lecturers around UNESA in publishing scientific journals. "So, please use this opportunity as well as possible to dig up as much information as possible," he said.
Prof. Sutikno said that in writing scientific papers, one must choose good international journals by following the criteria in accordance with the 2019 PAK PO. Examination of international journals is very important in the consideration of submitting manuscripts, one of which is in addition to ISSN and peer review quality, openness and fairness of publication financing from related journals.
“If there is no transparency and fairness in the management of the journal for publication, it could be a predatory journal that does not have a scientific review process. A good journal should have a hybrid option, namely open access and copyright transfer," he explained.
The professor as well as the Academic Position Assessment team for Lecturers from the Ministry of Education and Culture gave tips to avoid predatory journals, including; raise awareness about predatory journals, recognize that publishing articles must meet technical standards, accept and apply international ethical standards in publishing articles, and publish the date of receipt of articles. The activity was attended by the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Prof. Dr. Bambang Yulianto, M.Pd., other leaders and the academic community around UNESA.
