The Unesa team consisting of professors and experts provided training to strengthen the implementation of inclusive education at SIB Thailand.
Unesa.ac.id. SURABAYA—School Indonesia Bangkok (SIB) held training to develop the competency of school principals and teachers in implementing inclusive education, in collaboration with the Surabaya State University (Unesa) community service team some time ago.
The Unesa team involved in the training This consists of, Wulan Patria Saroinsong, Sujarwanto, Bambang Yulianto, Ricky Setiawan, Ni Made Marlin Minarsih, and Muhammad Nurul Ashar. This program aims to increase understanding and practical skills in managing inclusive classes in accordance with Minister of National Education Regulation Number 70 of 2009 and PP No. 13 of 2020.
Chairman of PKM, Wulan Patria Saroinsong said, as an educational institution that serves children from various backgrounds, SIB is committed to developing an inclusive learning environment.
“Inclusive education itself has become a major issue in the world of education, especially since the COVID-19 pandemic emphasize the gap in access to education for students with disabilities. "SIB school principals and teachers are faced with an urgent need to understand and implement the principles of inclusive education," he said.
This training program is designed in three stages: preparation, implementation and evaluation. The preparation stage involves the development of module-based training materials, which include concepts, foundations, management and inclusive classroom management.
The implementation stage consists of online sessions using the Zoom and Google Classroom platforms, as well as offline sessions which take place at SIB. Finally, evaluation was carried out through pre-test and post-test to measure the effectiveness of the training.

Pre-test results show, Participants' initial understanding of inclusive education is still minimal. Of the 13 respondents, the majority got a score below 80, with an average score of 47.69. After training, the post-test results showed significant improvement with the average score increasing to 63.08. This marks a clear increase in participants' understanding of inclusive education management.
This training does not only focus on theory, but also provides practical skills. For example, participants learn how to make appropriate curriculum modifications for students with disabilities.
One important aspect is the introduction of "reasonable accommodations" and the role of special support teachers in supporting students with special needs. The number of participants who were able to answer questions related to this topic correctly increased significantly after the training.
The success of this program cannot be separated from the support of SIB as a partner. Adequate facilities and logistical support enable the training to run smoothly. The SIB principal stated that this training really helped us understand how to create an inclusive environment, which not only meets the needs of students with special needs but also the entire school community.
It is hoped that this program can become a model for other schools , both in Indonesia and abroad, who face similar challenges. By increasing the competence of school principals and teachers, educational institutions can create a more equitable and inclusive learning environment, fulfilling the right of every child to receive a proper education according to their needs.[*]
