Unesa.ac.id. SURABAYA�Thousands of Surabaya State University (UNESA) alumni attended the Grand Reunion which took place at Graha UNESA, Campus 2 Lidah Wetan Surabaya on Saturday, January 6 2024. The first alumni and those who had just graduated some time ago were enthusiastic about taking part in this first large-scale reunion.
"This reunion was cool and extraordinary because all the alumni gathered. Some were nostalgic for returning to the Home of Champions campus where we studied and fought together. We also met friends and comrades in arms at this alma mater," said the Chancellor of Unesa, Prof. Dr. Nurhasan, M. Kes.
This activity, added Cak Hasan (his nickname) is not just a reunion, but also to illustrate Unesa's time leap or journey from time to time until it became the State Higher Education Institution with Bukum (PTN-BH) as it is now.

"Since its inception, it was still IKIP Surabaya until UNESA is now an integral part of students who later became alumni. This activity is the right moment to reminisce, as well as strengthen communication to increase contributions to the country," he added .
The Chancellor invites all levels of alumni across time to maintain the friendship and good relations that have existed over the years. The strong sense of alumni kinship that exists needs to be translated into the form of productive collaboration to increase contributions both to the institution, region and country.

"The grand reunion is a form of bringing alumni to life and providing maximum benefits for UNESA and society. Through IKA UNESA, alumni can contribute to being a partner in institutional development," said the Chair of IKA Unesa for the 2024-2029 period in the activity which was opened with tausiah and prayer by K.H. Abu Bakar Assegaf.

Meanwhile, the Director of Student and Alumni Affairs, Dr. Muhamad Sholeh, S.Pd., M.Pd., hopes that this activity can be held regularly so that more and more alumni will contribute in the form of ideas and funds which will be processed into an endowment fund for operational implementation in the form of scholarships for students.
The series of events at this grand reunion included the socialization of IKA UNESA's contribution through 'IKA UNESA's Service to the Country' and the presentation of alumni awards. Awards are given based on work and contributions in their respective fields.
There are twelve categories of award recipient alumni, namely 1) Lilik Suhariyati, S.Pd., as a pioneer of the creative industry, 2) Wahyu Adji Setiawan, S.E., as a young entrepreneur figure, 3) Ahmad Abdullah Zawawi, S .Pd., M.Ed., as an outstanding young alumni, 4) Heri Prasetyo, S.Pd., as an arts and culture figure, 5) Brigadier General Pol (Ret.) Hj. Rumiah Kartoredjo, S.Pd., as a sports figure, 6) Miseri, M.Pd., as a disability care figure.
Furthermore, 7) Dr. Praptono, M.Ed., as an alumni figure who cares about teachers, 8) Drs. Muhammad Molik as an entrepreneurial figure, 9) Dr. Drs. H. Maidi., S.H., M.M., M.Pd, as a pioneer of regional innovation, 10) Dr. Drs. H. Marhaen Djumadi, S.E., S.H., M.M., MBA., as a pioneer of community culture, 11) Dr. H. Fatkul Anam, M.Sc., as an educational figure, and 12) Drs. Bambang Dwi Hartono, M.Pd, as a public official.[]
