Unesa.ac.id, Surabaya – Teaching in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic does require a struggle. Teachers are required to be active, creative, innovative, and collaborative in order to fulfill the essence of learning and teaching.
In order to motivate and appreciate the teachers to remain productive during the pandemic, the Alumni Association of Unesa (IKA Unesa) in Lamongan region held an awarding event for the 2021 Creative Teachers Competition.
The competition was held from December 28, 2020 to January 18, 2021 and managed to get the best participants from public and private teachers in Lamongan Regency. The awarding ceremony was held on January 30, 2021 in the hall of SMP Negeri 1 Lamongan.
There are three categories of races in the championship; scientific articles on pandemic learning, pandemic learning video contests, and pandemic short story copyright contests. "This competition does need teachers who care (care-empathy, red)," said Drs. H. Khoirul Anam, M.Pd. as the chairman of IKA Lamongan.
He explained that a teacher should not only be active, creative and innovative. However, they also have to care about how students are done during online or distance learning. "How tough our demands are as teachers, principals, in learning during the pandemic, but yes it has to be spirited, for generations's sake," he added.
Khoirul Anam emphasized that active, creative, innovative and care is very necessary for a teacher today. To realize it all, one of them can be through competitions or creativity events for teachers such as those held by IKA Unesa.
In his speech, Drs. Adi Suwito, M.Pd. as the coach of IKA Unesa Lamongan gave appreciation to teachers who have struggled during this pandemic. He encouraged teachers that in the midst of current conditions, teachers or educators should be able to find gaps in the presence of innovations in learning in order for the material to be well received by the students.
Through the implementation of the competition, hopefully it can motivate teachers in serving the country. It is also a motivation for IKA Unesa itself. Adi Suwito hopes that IKA Unesa can continue to take part and contribute to the development of education in Lamongan District.
"Hopefully we can continue to collaborate to achieve achievements," he hoped in the event which was also attended by Zainal Mutaqqin, S.Pd. as the chairman of the committee. The event was also enlivened by judges, participants and the winners of the race. (Hasna/ Yam)
