Unesa Distributes Personal Protective Equiptment for Some Hospital in East Java
The Covid-19 vaccine program has started to be carried out gradually. However, health protocols such as wearing masks, keeping distance, and washing hands periodically should still be carried out. Medical personnel are also required to continue wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during their duties.
In order to meet the needs of PPE for health workers in East Java, Unesa through the Community Service program in collaboration with the Unesa Crisis Center (UCC) distributed a number of PPE to several hospitals in East Java. The assistance consists of medical aprons, medical shoes, medical plastic bags, and other medical needs.
Rector of Unesa, Prof. Dr. Nurhasan, M.Kes., said that the assistance of PPE is one of Unesa's efforts to answer the needs of PPE whose availability is increasingly scarce. "We know yes, the use of PPE is disposable, so it is 2017. Therefore, we distribute the PPE," he said.
Assistance through the PKM Unesa program is based on the needs analysis factor in the field. In addition, the type of material selected is not arbitrary and adjusted to procedural operational standards (SOP) and health protocols in hospitals.
Nurhasan hopes that the PPE assistance can keep the medical team and health workers as the vanguard against covid-19 remain protected and maintained safety. "They are spirited inside the hospital, we are also passionate about undergoing health protocols and keep the spirit at home if it is not necessary outside," he said.
PKM Program of Unesa is a campus program organized specifically to help the community. During the pandemic, Unesa through the extension of PKM and UCC teams routinely descended into the community in various forms of activities. "Because this is a pandemic, Unesa's focus helps reduce the spread of Covid-19 in the community, lighten the economic burden of the community, and much more," he said.
"We hope that the pandemic will end soon," he concluded (Yam)
